Why De-badge?

Well, I went ahead and de-badged the rear of the car this afternoon. Z4 badge has gone. Quite easy to get off!
Now I've done it, with the diffuser fitted it looks somehow sharper! Looks good on the coupe as it equals out the rear hatch, having the Z4 on one side (no rear door lock showing on the coupe) sort of unevened the look. :D

Hair-dryer?

Yes. Then I used some heavy duty thread and just cheeswired behind the badge. Cleaned off any glue left with some "gunk remover" (stuff for getting sticky anything off anything!) I had in the garage. Quick polish and you would never know it had been there!

Interesting. I was finishing the boot interior off and fitting a battery restraint system this afternoon (really just an excuse to be out in the sun) and though exactly the same about the Z4 badge as I studied the back of the car. It seemed to clutter now the diffuser is added.

It's going in the morning - decided

I took all of the barges off my 3.0 quite some time ago. It just looks cleaner. But I have seen a lot of cars enhanced by "Badge Engineering", most notably a four cylinder Z3 sporting ///M badges. And I would guess that Honda made far fewer SI engines than you see cars so badged.

It's not just Z3's that are up to it :headbang:

mine came with no side badges but i like the z4 on the back. Side badges look like an after thought IMHO. If u cant recognise the diff from one model to the next (alright 2.2, 2.5 and 3.0 are hard) then u dont care. For example an M badged car thats not an m sticks out like a sore thumb to me but id give my other half a million quid to spot the diff between it and the real m. Badges or not those that care know what it is!

+1... That's one reason I also debadged the rear of my coupe. Removing the metal moniker just cleaned it up and made it much more visually balanced. Now if I only had the M's twin pipes, that would be the treat.

Yeah but the clean butt just doesn't scream spank me like one with a tattoo does. So I'll keep my tramp stamp thank you much :D :poke:
