Well I took the Zed out for a spin today. I forgot how much fun a rear wheel drive car is when it's a bit slippy. Took me back almost 30 years to when I had the (coughs) Capri..... Anyway there I was just driving along when the seat belt warning comes on, oh b**locks was the first thing to pop into the swede. Well I jiggled and fiddled, fastened and unfastened the seat belt. Still no joy. So I pulled over stopped and started and off I sets and the warning comes on. 15 mins drive home with bloody bonging in me ear'oles....and then 2 mins from home I happen to look to my left and sees the 2l bottle of Fanta on the passenger seat, penny drops, lights come on, throw bottle into footwell and hey presto no more bonging....who would have thought a bottle of pop could cause so much pain.....

This is the reason I couldn't take all the presents to my sisters on Xmas day. I refused even for the short trip to have the car making that noise for the 3 mins it took me to go there.

So I still have one of my dads presents here.

Couldn't you plug in the unused seatbelt to stop the bonging? Am I missing something here?
Regards

Possibly but that would require me A) thinking about doing that and B) either reaching/clambering all the way over to pull it into position or getting the car out of where it's parked, hard up against a wall on the nearside and then getting out and affixing the seat belt. Then getting the items from 7 flights up.

Chuck into that I have lovely Ivory nappa leather I don't want to ruin, especially with a wicker hamper and 3 crates of bottled beer, which all couldn't fit in the front anyway and it was xmas day and I'm not faffing about getting a cover from somewhere and had been promised such items would be picked up In a E61 but that never happened because they still had my youngest nephews ride on car in the boot.

The car can only take so much stuff and even if I had put stuff on the seat, I'd still not have enought room so some of my dads presents were kept here. Which was the beer and I walked the hamper round.

If anyone has managed to drive with 48 bottles of beer and a large hamper on the seat as well as 2 large gift bags in the footwell on icy, cobbled roads with speed bumps successfully please let me know. I do however care about my car and not smashing it up just to get something that's not actually needed there.

The car was only used because I couldn't carry all the kak my other half has bought everyone so had to drive it round in my car because his is in the garage and then go home, park up and then make my way on foot to my sisters.

pull the handbrake up one click whilst it's bonging.. and the bonging stops. release handbrake when it starts bonging again... and bonging stops again.. but this time for the whole journey.

that's how I've been transporting takeaways for years  :driving:

I had a passenger crush my de-icer can under the seat. Took me fecking ages to work out why it was going off. Drove me insane!

Learnt the sensor works from below too though

Got any tips for transporting fidgety Spaniels in a two seater - apart from lobbing 'em in the boot of course, which would be cruel :)

yep.. stick a heavy book / 2l bottle of water/ anything heavy, on the seat.. wait for the bonging.. do the handbrake trick.
bobs your uncle.

do it all the time when my dog's with me, as he's quite good at moving off the sensor regardless of how tightly fastened down in his harness he is.

Use SSSv32 software and deactivate chime

i had mine deactivated on my si, as i drive up to our autogates at work i take off my belt to rummage around for the swipe fob thingy & have to hang out at full stretch to make it activate before i can drive in, the bonging drove me nutz & had to go

That's where the wally bit comes in.... I thought it was my seat belt that was at fault, never occurred to me it could be the passenger seat.........Well it did eventually..
