Who's upgraded/changed there CDV valve? clutch delay valve

I can direct the CDV meet, have done three now but tend not to like the upside down under the car feeling anymore nowadays

Note that on the M you have to remove the protective plate first, non Ms don't have that.

So does it make a differance if the CDV is removed?

As others have said a notchy feel has nothing to do with the CDV. But I've seen quite a few posts on M3cutters about notchy gear changes, especially from 1st to 2nd. It seams to be quite a random thing with some people saying they have it and others saying their gearbox is lovely and smooth.

Those that have had it have recommended a gearbox oil change. I tried this on mine as I felt mine was not as smooth as it should be. Even though it had only been change about 6k earlier ( before I bought the car) it did make quite a difference.

Lots of recommends for different oils if you read up but I just stuck with OME stuff with mine.

My summary:

2003 2.5: Massive difference
2004 3.0: Massive difference
2006 M : no difference what so ever.

Only the 3.0 was my own car.

Hmmm interesting! Perhaps I'm just needing to get used to the car, rather than blaming it :driving:

I've never had any jerkiness in my other 5 BMWs?!

Just do it. You'll either find a difference or no harm will be done. I've never read of any negative impact of removing it. Simples.

srhutch has the old generation 1 before they did all the upgrades for the 2007 model

So nothing to lose by doing it then, given I'm not new to 'stick shift' based on all my reading from our cousins over the pond.

Nothing to lose besides the disappointment that after removing it, you don't suddenly become a driving star and you are desperately looking for that placebo effect of improvement

You mean I wont learn to heel & toe in the car by simply removing it? :P Cant even manage to blip the throttle properly on this one yet on the down shift, think it is due to the revs sounding higher than they actually are.

Thanks for the heads up on the Intravee, there was one person ahead of me; however he decided he did not want it, so will be sending some cash over to Phil this evening
