Whoops [Z4 crash on motorway]

You guys may have seen this on you tube ?
"BMW Z4 Pulls into traffic causing a collision - Full Video"
Just spotted on news website.

Just watched twice and it looks 50/50, just unlucky. I think he saw a clear lane to pull out into and at the same time the yellow Clio?, was pulling into the inside lane from the middle lane with no indicator. Really need to see from further back to be sure. But....if the Z4 driver was just trying to queue jump.....w@@ker!

Not knowing all the facts, my comment is based on hearsay; yes, he'd pulled into the lane very late (causing other vehicles to brake hard) and then decided to try his luck further on. He also claimed to have lost consciousness, but can clearly be seen braking, indicating and guiding his car to the hard shoulder.

"He also claimed to have lost consciousness"
Should have dropped the roof, bit of fresh air would have sorted it
Whatever the reason it still ends up with one nice car damaged and insurance premiums jacked up.

does the other car look to be coming out of middle lane and into nearside

sill the z4s fault
I saw that as well especially when viewing that part of the clip 1 frame at a time. Might explain that the Z4 driver saw him but did not see his movement to the lane he pulled out into. Still IMO the fault is with the Z4 driver.

Might also be explained if the Citroen was not signalling when returning to the inside lane . . . can't tell from the video.
Lesson there about being ready for traffic pulling out of queing lanes - in my experience, particularly something to watch for when on a motorcycle! Despite wearing high vis and headlight on

I am very familiar with this stretch of road and I've seen many accidents here. People drive like idiots in all these lanes leaving everything until the last minute. I slow near this stretch anticipating several impatient and selfish drivers. I'm never disappointed.

Clearly the Z4 driver at fault due to impatience but why was the Citroen travelling so fast in those circumstances?

The Z4 driver was totally to blame, impatient tosser in my eyes. I hate drivers who think they don't need to queue like the mugs they drive past, they sail past the mugs and then pull into the smallest of gaps, on come the brakes and f@ck all you lot behind.
Hope he gets his licence removed for dangerous driving, because that what it was, drivers a dangerous prick
Why shouldn't the Citroen change lanes, indicator or not ??

All conjecture but it would make sense if the Citroen had been in the middle lane hadn't indicated as to why the Z4 thought the coast was clear and pulled out, the lane may have been clear :?

I do a lot of driving in my job Tim and see plenty of pricks like this, they drive around in their own self importance cutting others up and normally get clean away from accidents they cause. This prize plum got his comeuppance

Agreed. That kind of driving is very common in those motorway situations. People skipping queues are often the reason the traffic is held up in the first place. I hope they lose their license.

It looks to me that the two right lanes were moving at a good speed, the Citroen wasn't driving any differently to the rest. Bad decision to move left into the empty lane but not at all his fault.

I would argue the Citroen moved to the left out of the way of the van to allow him to pass. Had he not moved left and a clear lane in theory he's breaking the law by driving down the centre lane.
If he did indeed move in, he did so at a point when traffic was near stationary and at the point the hatched section became solid ;which the Z4 had to cross)

I often reverse situations and wonder how our community would react if it was the Citroen pulled out and hit the Z4. Pretty sure there'd be outrage at it pulling out and no questions about the Zed
