Today I am a very happy man.

The B road I take to work has been closed for about a week, due to this not being that long (for the council anyway) I assumed they'd be fixing a drain cover or laying some cables or something but to my surprise its been completely resurfaced!!!

The road was pretty lumpy before and as you'll all know the Z can be a harsh ride sometimes but this road is now super smooth and like a race track. its not a major road so I was surprised this has been done but there have been a few accidents lately so maybe the road condition was blamed. Now lets hope they don't remove the national speed limit!

I'd just like to give the man at the council who organised this work a big hug!

Has anyone else had nice surprises like this?

Thats a nice surprise for a Monday morning and a good start to the week  :driving: :driving:

Sounds like it's going to be a good week!

The local council recently resurfaced all the roundabouts in a town close by, that certainly makes for some rather easy fun! :P

Parts of the m25 around here were like that for a while. Now it's crap again due to all the hugely overloaded lorries :(

Great news!! To be honest its very underrated when a road has been closed for a while and re opens fresh!! its the corrupt road laying, road fixing companies that take their time and fleece the councils for what ever they like! :poke:

Whereabouts is this piece of tarmac? It might be worth my driving from West Sussex just to give the suspension a treat! Roads are pretty crap around here.

Just wait a month or so until other contractors start digging it up and laying rubbish patchwork Tarmac in its place when they've finished the job.

So enjoy it for the time being.

Rickrob, try the A25 into Guildford....just after you pass shere there's a fantastic (albeit very short....1-2 mile maybe) twisty section with new tarmac. Do it, turn around and blast back the other way....thank me when you're done!

It’s not hugely long but goes from the kings arms pub in Lockerley village to Awbridge village hall in Hampshire. Its only 2.3 miles so probably not worth the drive over unless local but my god is it nice. On my way into work this morning I had an empty road ahead for the entire stretch. It was so so nice. It’s as smooth as a race track.

I agree though it’s probably not long until they need to lay a new water main or something and do a really botch repair on the road. For now however it’s awesome. Not a single bump. I do hope they continue with the rest of the road from Lockerley to West Dean.
