Who would you let drive your car?

So, do you cringe when someone wants to drive your car?

Worst for me was my Mother. I just got my car, and she liked it because it was "cute"(I hate that) and a convertible. This is when I proceeded to remind her she still doesn't know how to drive. A turn key operator if you've ever seen one, she tailgates, and pays no attention to whats around her.

Anyway, she said, and I quote "I know how to drive, I've been driving for 30 years", I respond with "and you still suck at it". She then asked before driving away, "I know how to drive a 5 speed, what do I need to learn to drive a 6 speed?" And is dead serious. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

She had that car lurching back and forth in first gear worse then I've ever seen. I learned how to drive stick driving this car off the lot!

No one else has since driven the car, other than who I trust with a manual.

I'm single so it doesn't come up unless I'm visiting family. However, there's only one person on the blacklist: my younger brother. The entire family has had bad experiences lending him cars, so no one will give him their keys. And he's always needing a ride because he won't take care of his own car, either.

I didn't let anyone aside from official BMW staff drive my 07 3.0si roadster until April 2009. Drove the entire way across to the Bay Area from Wisconsin on a nice 12-day tour in August 2008. Sadly, I've had to loosen my restraints since my license was pulled due to an unexpected full tonic-clonic seizure that showed up with my name on it back on Easter morning. Turns out that the state of California is real restrictive on that sort of behavior. Go figure.

Since then, it's been challenging as I've had to stay quiet on the passenger side with my girlfriend behind the wheel. I hope to be back on the road in a week after another visit to the DMV. Fortunately, I've been distracted with dealing with why that seizure came along that it was bit inconsiderate to vet the person volunteering to drive me to the doctor's office or DMV. I'm trying to learn to be a better passenger but it's not easy. :?

What are you lot like - let everyone enjoy the experience! Wife and three grown up kids, they all drive 'our' Zed and can share the experience - isn't that what life's all about.....!

I dont mind who drives it as long as they are FULLY COMP insured otherwise if they are 3rd party then standard line goes "you bang it, you buy it" :)

just let my better half have a go in a carpark- she really suited the car- just needs to learn to drive faster! And not move every part of the seat! :headbang:

Everyone may drive my cars.
They are for bringing me from a to b, in a efficient, quick and fun way.

Even a total strange redheaded roundbreasted lady may drive it, when taking me and the car home from the pub.
