Just got pulled by an unmarked car.

Took a roundabout quick, then 65 in a 50 limit, then another roundabout (racing line) before turning into my exit off the A34.
Blue lights, pulled over. "Oh dear" thought I. :!:

Very nice constable had a look round the car, asked me why he'd stopped me so I told the truth. :oops:

He said he'd clocked me at 68mph but as I was driving a performance car and took such a good line through the 2nd roundabout, he thought he'd stop me for a quiet chat rather than prosecute. Asked me a few questions about the car, then let me go.

One could be cynical and think his camera was off or he had a brew on, but I get the feeling that wasn't the case. Amazing really.
 
Is there any other way to take a roundabout than the racing line?

Good result, count your blessing and never speed unless you've seen the occupant in the car behind you!

Sounds like your politeness paid off ... though be aware your plate may now be recorded on their watch list for the next 3 months, so if you get pulled again soon don't expect to get off so lightly.

Managed to brake in time for a hand held speed trap last summer - guy made a point of making me see he wrote down my number though didn't stop me though for the next 3/4 months rozzers seemed to appear out of nowhere with too keen interest in my blue conveyance...

So what type of unmarked car was it?
 
Unless they're on a quota or clampdown, they're usually a reasonable bunch if you're not being a dick. Many are true petrol heads

I've posted this before:

I got pulled over a about 18 years ago after a police car on a dual carriage way, I was doing 70+ in a 40mph zone whilst arguing with the GF (current Mrs Hutch). 23 years old in a Mk3 Cavalier SRi, usually driven with front fogs on, so hot target.

Anyway flew past it as I hadn't seen it being distracted by the argument, looked in my rear view mirror, SHITE! what have I over taken, GF looks, "A Police Car" she says, one with lights and stripes. Anyway I back off (no braking) and continue for half a mile or so to the next roundabout. Round the roundabout and off the other side. This is when the blue lights come on, so I pull over straight away.

Copper get out and comes over, his first words were "Do you need to wear glasses or do we need bigger stripes". He asked me how fast was I going to which I said 70 (no pint in trying to lie). He proceeded to give me a lecture then let me go, suggesting I take my GF out for a meal as it would be cheaper than the £60 fine he could have given me.

Being that long ago, am surprised his advice wasn't to disable her communication device by plugging it with your third leg :poke:
 
Your lucky night - politeness and driving well (if fast) seem to have paid off.

However, Mr Hutch :telloff: :D

It was a white Ford ST3. I guess they use it to see if kids try racing it? I just went by him as he was doing about 50.

I'll take the advice on board.
