Hi Friends,

Does anybody know if you can fit the M seats in a 3.0 ZED. I drove a M the other day and loved the seats! I bet they are not cheap, but if I decide to keep my Z4 until the wheel's fall off it, I am curious to know if they would fit without serious mods? My current driver and passenger seats are the leather heated and power seats from the premium package.

Any Help or suggestions?

Thanks Friends,
Bob

cj10jeeper and Mr Whippy done just that

my 04 came with them :D

technically not ///M seats, but yes its possible because other than different leather and the logo (some ///M's dont seem to have the logo) the seats are the same.

All ///M seats are electric but not always heated, and normal Sport Seats (the ones that look like ///M's) can be manual or electric and heated or non heated.

Get an M with the individual Nappa leather seats (like the champaign) and they are no different to the seats in my 3.0si!

/To answer the question simply the seats are a direct bolt in swap, requiring no more that swapping over the harness plug and undoing 4 torx bolts.

They are staggeringly expensive new and do sometimes appear on Ebay. Black ok, red rare

If you wan tto be adventurous yuo can build and swap around components to create any combination of heated or motorised bases as the parts are interchangeable

I did this to create electric memory & heated ///M (style) seats

I asked at BMW and they were £5k a pair, plus fitting. I went to a local car upholsterer, told him what I wanted to achieve and he quoted me £1k per seat. Would affect trade-in value too, being non-standard.

Expect to pay more like £500 black to perhaps £700 for a red pair on Ebay, but that's all down to research and a bit of good timing or luck and if anything I would expect them to increase resal value as they are more desirable.

Sell the old seats for £250 ish or store to retrofit at the end of ownership

Factory option here in US they were called M Sport Seats and required the Sport Package, so.....

$1300 for Sport Package
$500 for the seats themselves
$500 to heat them

equals expensive option, but I sure love 'em.

I'm not sure if the sport package added wiring or anything else that the seats needed or if it's just a way to force you into a more expensive package option.

Yes, have considered both, reckon I'll stick with it. It's an 04 with 15k miles which I've had from new. It's got a nice spec and I've ditched the runflats. When I got it I really thought some of my friends just wouldn't fit in the sports seats. Opted for beige as it was like my old TVR, though black would have been better maybe. Red's popular but doesn't do it for me I'm afraid.

Pity I have beige :(

Don't think I've ever seen a pair tbought/sold in that colour.
Best just stick 'as is' or trade the car

He could always offer to buy some Recaro Pole Positions for a Z4MC owner with champagne seats ;)

Do you want more lateral support for day to day driving or just track?

Just day to day really.

I have a cunning plan. I'll fit a heater element, magnestise it, and it'll grip me by the metalwork in my back. Yep, that'll work a treat, sorted.
