Who has the fastest roadster on here?

This is going to be like the race in the storm drains in Grease.

You need a Latino bird stood in the middle with two hankies!

how about this for a shocker..... the s/c MAY be coming off soon and for sale..... looks like i may be a test bed for a new setup!!! basically i may be moving into a new setup, my car is the perfect test bed as ive been through 3 stages of the ess unit now (ill really be able to help in terms of direct comparison with the market leader)... its been so reliable, so perfect so im kinda nervous about starting again but i trust the company in question and their using a completely new blower unit with completely different characteristics... the ess kit has been and will be a something i can nothing but recommend.... incredible kit. But... as with everything... i like moving forward and trying new things... so the complete ess unit and all its parts may possibly be removed and for sale if the new kit goes ahead and i accept the terms...

Needless to say Beedub please let me know if that's the case as I really want to buy it :)

no problem you was my first thought anyway but im guessing the company in question will take it off my hands and retail it on... but i'll make sure you get first refusal AND ill even workout a deal with them so maybe we can get it installed supercheap..... id love to be part of that as ive changed lots of parts to make sure the fit was oem as possible...

it may not happen however, just waiting on the email at the mo so this was very prematurely announced...... im more than happy with the current setup...which has been nothing short of incredible...... sometimes it doesnt pay to fix something thats NOT broken....

Anything you can do would be awesome mate, thanks. Even if it isn't possible, I'm looking forward to meeting you and discussing cars and everything you've learned about making them faster

I have.

Really.

On a short twisty track I'd bet on my Westfield over Beedub's beast.

Does that count? 8)

whats in the westy again? i recon even my modest westy would easy see off my z4 on track. in a straight drag i think it would be better off the line up to 80 but 3rd is really nice in z4 which is where i think it will claw it back. on the bends its lightness is the winner. im no racing driver but i can really feel the difference when i drive them back to back.

Z4MR on OEM Conties vs my mates 235 bhp 2.0 duratec Pheonix on road legal track rubber. Both pretty even up to 70 mph. Z4MR significantly faster above 80mph. Pheonix much faster around the twisties & over a lap of Spa. Pheonix in question now has a super charger and would simply laugh at my MR, on track. :driving:

Wasn't that a blowie not a blower

Isn't it time you were tucked up in bed mate :poke: :D

Not yet, it's only 10pm :P

on a side note.. whats the spec of the westy?? how about some detailed pics, engine bay, suspension setup ect ect..

and where would you like to have a few runs?? name a venue in the middle of us and lets hook up..... think it'll be awesome!!

My Westfield has a pretty modest power output too, but weight is everything. It's a 2l Pinto bored out to 2.1l with a new head with much more aggressive cams, and twin Weber 45s. At around 160bhp it has a power to weight ratio slightly better than a stock Z4M.
As the other guys have said, straight line speed is not its forte largely due to poor aerodynamics (I'll remove the windscreen and fit an aeroscreen when I have a chance), it's all about velocity changes. Acceleration below 70 is phenomenal and braking distances and cornering speeds take a bit of getting used to being limited by fear more than grip to start with.
Beedub, let's meet at Singapore airport - that's about halfway at the moment - we can have a few timed runs around the car park and a drag race (which you'll easily win) down the runway

nice, love the pinto power units.... had lots of dealings with those.... they make great Tq figures if tuned correctly.... bet she sounds lovely!!!

arhhhh slight issue then, when do you get home??

It was a pretty scary introduction to RWD cars for me back in 2003. At the time all I'd driven was FWD cars (and a few karts). I'd had lots of experience with understeer and lift-off / handbrake-induced oversteer, but not oversteer under power. It's great fun and handles like it's on rails. Driving the two back to back makes the ///M feel like a heavy and wallowing family car!

I'm not back for six months, but don't let that stop you selling me your supercharger anytime you're ready :D Can I have your BBK too? :D

Cool.. I'm running a standard Zetec on jenveys. It's only ~180 bhp so nothing mental. I would like to get the head/cams done but don't think it's totally worth it unless you go the whole way and do the exhaust too.

I miss the LSD on the Z there's something about pulling out of a t junction with a little bit of a back end flick that makes me giggle every time like a demented child ... That and the 100db exhaust in the Mersey tunnel :)

I'd like to shove it up to the 230 mark but the costs is huge and for normal road use I'm not sure totally needed.

The z wins out on the stability at speed :) you don't get that front end lift and light steering :) lol

Sounds great. I've had my Westie for a decade and I'd definitely like more power now but I cannot justify spending money on that and my ///M. I'd love to try a Hayabusa- or R1-powered Seven and also V8- and Duratec-powered Westies before trading up. The bike-engined Sevens are really light and very fast on the track but I've heard they are a pain to drive on the road due to their lack of torque.
