Who has seen a Tesla on the road

I saw this Elise style electric car on Top Gear, ..well seems like ages ago. I completely forgot about it, but now I have seen two of them on the road in as many weeks in the centre of London.

Has anyone else seen one, and do you think they will now go mainstream ? They do look pretty good, and it's a spooky thing to see one accelerate hard from the lights with barely any sound.
 
i saw one on holiday recently in LA. Looked a bit naff and i cannot see that 'elise' looking model becoming mainstream at that price !
 
Bit of a gimmick really to prove that you can get high performance out of an electric car.

Too high a price, too heavy, short range, poor cornering, but fast in a line. Sort of thing seen in Capital cities until the novelty wears off.
 
I've seen 3 so far. One on high street ken, one on the M4 and one going through Chiswick. I've not really been looking out for them but there are definitely a few about!
 
My father's company works with Tesla. He got to go for a ride in one. 0-60 in 4 flat is pretty sick.

They are coming out with a 4 door model. The roadster was a proof of concept. They get up to 220 miles to the charge. Not too bad for an around-the-town car. The roadster will start to fade out as the sedan gets more mainstream.

Alas I think you are right. I read somewhere that the Tesla will soon disappear while the company focuses on run of the mill electric cars. Bit of a shame really as I liked the look of the Tesla and looked forward to them eventually getting down to normalised prices.
 
Saw a lime-green Tesla on Potsdamer Platz in Berlin in August :

Also saw a Bugatti Veyron but that was not "in the wild" but in the Bugatti Showroom on "unter den Linden"
