Who has owned a Z4MR and Z4MC ?

Z4M-2006

With all the talk (daily) of which is the best model of M car,who has owned both to be able to offer a balanced view..

i know i have and have my thoughts on the subject...

Any else though ?

I've not owned a Roadster, but I don't think I'd have been unhappy if BMW had never made the coupe as I'd have bought the roadster (or the Alpina version) and just kept the roof up all the time anyway.

I don't think anyone really thinks one is intrinsically better than the other, it's pure forum banter.

I actually think the roadster is probably the better daily driver as it's a bit more compliant.

Teasing ?
lets have "the " thoughts  we can handle it

There is only really one difference on a day to day basis.

I doubt many could tell you the difference between the weight, stiffness, steering rack even if they drove them back to back.

I've owned a z3 roady, and loved that too...
:fuelfire:

It's not about the specs it does however when the top is down give a much , much more connected feel to the environment. I did love it. But I've owned Coupe's ever since that roady.

I think the coupe is much easier to live with.

I've not owned an ///MR, but I do own a Westfield as well as my ///MC. The Westfield is by nature a raw an uncompromising car and absolutely tiny even compared with a Z4. As such, I feel extremely exposed in heavy, fast-moving traffic, especially when next a truck or a 4x4. I wouldn't imagine that the ///MR feels quite like this, but I do love the feeling of being encapsulated and truly integrated into the cabin of my ///MC.

A stock roadster looks better than a stock coupe

But a modified coupe looks better than a modified roadster

Actually they do feel quite different. Not "better" or "worse" just different. The Coupe is definitely a bit more hardcore to drive and less forgiving. I couldn't comment on track driving as I've never really driven one in anger on a circuit.

Not owned... But i have driven a 3.0 coupe.

And it did feel different to be in and drive. Not better or worse... Just more enclosed.

Also the rear pillar in a coupe is instantly noticeable in the rear of the mirror.

I would have been more then happy if i had bought a coupe.

Again lots of comments from either side, but as far as i can see nobody has actually owned both as yet ?

Andy... My thoughts ?

Simple really.....The coupe looks better and is easier to live with on a day to day basis... If you want the ultimate thrill ride for when all the stars are in alignment then the roadster...That could happen once or 30 times a year....so hard to say..

Aesthetics....

The coupe gets a lot of looks and admiring glances, maybe because of the relative rarity of the car....Not as much as my Z3M coupe though, you couldnt go anywhere without being chatted too..
The roady should have been made "different" enough to distinguish it from the normal roady, subtle ridges and different bumper profiles isnt enough.

Chassis.....

I have fitted H&R's to both the roady and the coupe, and the effect the ride so much for the better..I would say the roady was slightly more compliant, but there is really nothing in it.

Steering..

I didnt know the coupe and the roady had a different rack..On the road,i cant really feel any difference,or enough to comment anyway...

Everything else is much of a muchness.....

As a sidenote, having also owned the 3.0 si coupe, this is the best one to live with on a daily basis...As the engine is easier to live with on commutes, and its a bit more frugal..
But the M looks a lot nicer, and goes a lot better....

So in conclusion,there isnt one..
