White van men!

I know it.
That will do nicely.
The jug and glass.
Nice pint.

Drove past that pub a few times when I was lost trying to locate the entrance to my friends birthday weekend venue - Lea Hall, Florence Nightingale's childhood home I believe. Venue was so plush I barely left it for 3 days, ok maybe for the occasional hoonette, slightly disturbing the peace. Although, I offered an old lady a lift in the rain..now thats something I wouldn't normally do in London.

White vans along with bus drivers in London are utter idiots.

I was driving roof down near brent last summer, on a hot day (as rare and unbelievable as that sounds) with my female passenger... this van was driving parallel on the drivers side, despite being clear in front for him to go faster - his passenger looking in my direction... i thought he was checking out the car (or thinking i was a poser to have the roof down  ).

Then he does some crazy manoever to cut to the inside lane - which i had to brake quite harshly for... and then realised why he was... my passenger was wearing a vest, and the belt was causing some of cleavage to show - a fair amount of oggly later i sped off.

It's because quite simply had he had the right background, he would have been in F1 and he just wasn't privileged enough to have got the race seat. But even hindered by his socio-economic status reducing his drive to a white van, he's proving he can still mix it with a sports car thanks to his superior road craft. You my dear should frankly feel honoured to have shared a stretch of tarmac with him, and slightly ashamed of yourself for not being man enough to handle the M well enough to outpace him.

I don't think its worth losing my General Medical Council registration and livelihood over. I am happy knowing what I am capable of in the ///M

Well said

and that reminds me, whatever happened to braingirl :!:

I think drivers in general are way worse in London. I lived in Warwickshire for University and then a year in Maidstone, Kent 2009, never experiencing the general thickness of drivers in the Capital. My brief experience with the Zed out of town has been far more pleasant. Lately, however I'm generally going off London life and negative about it, contemplating a move to a quieter location. These kind of things affect quality of life in my opinion in the longer term.

I can thoroughly recommend the Cotswolds. My blood pressure increases inversly to my distance from London :)

Not to mention crazy cab/van drivers that think nothing of pulling a u-turn from stationary traffic into moving traffic going the other way. Bus drivers that pull out from stops with no indication or care that there might be traffic moving past them and of course the usual morons that must have got their licences in christmas crackers...

London is the worst place to drive in the world - frustration city and so many cameras

I know. A friend of mine (who's also a complete idiot and shouldn't be allowed to walk without supervision) is in a world of kack at the moment. There's speeding and there's  SPEEDING  and he can't seem to tell the difference :headbang:

just spent a thoroughly enjoyable hour drifting back through forum posts until i reached this lynch mob of biggots :D
i'm on my 4th white van (2 escorts/1 vito & currently a dreaded transit  )
do approx 12/15k/yr in mine & never had a accident or incident .
WVmen are the backbone of the country .
cut us some slack :x
i find renault laguna drivers THE worst & micra drivers the most infuriating

Actually the absolute worst are what the Germans call "The Elephant Racers". Those HGV drivers that pull out, take up both lanes of a dual carriageway or make a rolling roadblock on the motorway. Gits

I think they're no different to any other band of drivers. You get good ones, and you get dumb fcuks. You only notice the dumb ones.
I think that's fair comment... but I also think they drive like idiots because it's not their vehicle...

why would you assume " its not their vehicle " ? some for sure won't be but mine is mine & its all mine 8)
by association then you would agree that company car users are also rude & aggressive on the roads ?
& those who lease their performance cars don't respect them & also drive them discourteously ?
the roads are full of good/bad/average/excellent/shocking/woeful drivers in all manner of vehicles . you really can't pigeon hole them 8)

Oh sorry I thought this was the Z4 forum not White van men forum :)

I am not saying ALL WVM are terrible drivers and aggressive, in fact tonight one pulled out from a side road ahead of me when he shouldn't have really and put on his hazard lights momentarily. How nice. Its just when they are annoying it is like very annoying. As I am sure the odd Z4 driver may be.

sorry to pass comment , wasn't to offend more to defend :)
do have a Z4coupe in the garage for when i want to drive more considerately :D

my mum shares your disliking for them...but has turned this attitude another to another step...and "plays them at their own game". She drives a 5.0 RR Sport SCHRGD....and when coming up behind a van in the outside lane..gets close (but not dangerous) but close enough to cause them to pull in to the middle...she then boxes them in while theyre there....and when theyre irate enough she lets them pull in behind her...only for her to floor it and make them look as if theyre going backwards.....only thing is it usually means the passenger (often me) bares the brunt of abuse while theyre stuck behind a slow driver in the middle lane

Had that last Friday, travelling up the A1 stuck for a good 10 minutes (felt like longer) while 2 HGVs matched speeds. Deep breath............ and release.......

I think we are conditioned by the stereotype to expect WVM to drive in an inconsiderate and careless manner, so our reaction to them is amplified by the expectation being satisfied... Happens in many aspects of life. The truth is that there are complete cocks in every type of vehicle, but there are lots of white vans that look the same so it is easy to lump them together, and to remember a collection of incidents associated with one type of vehicle.

Personally speaking though, Landrover Freelander drivers are top of my sh1t list today :x
