I am suggesting a trip to the Isle of Islay in Summer 2011. I appreciate we will have the national meet in the lakes next year as well which I also intend to be attending. Was thinking maybe around mid to late August 2011 for Islay.

I've done a search and couldn't find anything about this Lakes national meet - could someone give me some detail or point me to a thread?

I could make it, if it was late August. :)

We're taking the Zed4 down to the south of France this summer. :driving:

CoupeChief, Here is the link to the lakes meet that was in July, It was a great success though I had to pull out.
The guys are planning another one for next year, no thread yet

MalcZ4,
Be great to see you there, Enjoy the run to France.

I have now tried emailing both Highlands and Islands airport authority and the Islay airport manager 3 times (each) and have no response whatsoever to any of them, I have tried calling both and just been told to email, :headbang:
I checked and double checked both address's are correct.
Apart from jumping in the car and going over to Islay to physically talk to the manager I am at a loss as to what to do next.

Any Ideas :?

Or drop me your mail an I'll forward it on :)

Will try writing to him first, if no joy from that will take you up on that. And try a couple more myself, Persistence maybe the key but don't want to pee him off either.
Will also probably try HIAL head office next as well, Go right to the top as the A/port manager would prob have to go through them any way.

Would be so cool if we could get this to happen, Was even thinking of trying to take it down the line of offering rides to any locals down the runway. sort of bit of PA stuff to try and get on the goodside of the airport and Island. Of course it would be upto each individual owner if they would want to participate in any part of it but I know we all like to show off our cars

EDIT..If we get permission for this I was also thinking of asking a M8 to get a van and take Spare wheels to use on the runway, and anyone else who wanted to take advantage of that would be welcome to but would ask that they would contribute fairly to his expenses, Mainly ferry costs.... Just a thought at the moment though.

Welcome, Will be updating this Thread shortly.

I have still had no luck in regards to the airport, if anyone else fancies having a go be my guest. Its not getting any form of Answer that is so frustrating, I mean if it is a no then at least have the courtesy to tell me instead of just ignoring me.

Should have a better Idea of dates in about a week or so, Its all to do with what may or may not be happening on the job front.

Ok,
Proposed dates ( proposed at the moment) if these dates prove to be too unpopular i Could look at moving them
Bearing in mind this is a 2 night trip it would mean taking a day off work either on a Friday or a Monday

August, Friday 26th / 27th .......Travel back Sunday 28th.
August Saturday 27th /28th ......Travel back Monday 29th.

September Friday 2nd / 3rd ......Travel back Sunday 4th
September Saturday 3rd / 4th ....Travel back Monday 5th.

Please also bear in mind the ferry costs involved with the trip which will be approx £120 ish for a return trip for car and two people.
Could all who are interested nominate a favoured date and if possible a secondary date that would suit.

I appreciate that this is still some way off yet but as Guisely has pointed out it would be good to get firm dates ASAP so they can be planned in well in advance.
I also appreciate that there are those of who who are unable to commit to dates at this time due to unknown work Schedules but if you could still register your interest in attending.

Good work Nosa.

Am a possible (probable) for this. Will probably need some time either side, what time would you aim to leave /be home?

Weather wise, earlier is possible better  Seriously though, would be nice if it was like last year. Chances are it'll be just me, so I'm flexible with dates.

Are we going to give A11y another shot at booking the ferries? :P

Hope to be able to make this one... was a great trip... even enjoyed the detour. Correction, especially enjoyed the detour :driving:

Well, technically I didn't book the ferries the last time, so I'll happily investigate them again for this trip... :poke:

I'm a definate YES for this trip. However...

26/27/28/29 August: definately cannot do this weekend, I'm competing in a MTB event in Ireland and we're away

2/3/4/5 September: any combination of that weekend is good with me. Mrs a11y doesn't have her on-call rota for then yet but we'll just have to hope for the best.
