hi guys,
i have a 2005 2.5L Z4 with 5 speed manual. i've recently noticed a "whirring" noise that occurs only during deceleration in 2nd gear. no noises in 1st or 3rd and no noises when accelerating from gears 1 through 5. no issues with reverse either.
also i've had times when i just cannot shift into 2nd gear; i've to jiggle the gear shift, try to force it into 1st or 3rd or sometimes even R-gear before i can shift into 2nd gear again. this happens more often in the mornings, when it still hasn't warmed up yet, but has also happened a number of times when the car was fully warmed up.
the noise described above is repeatable all the time but the difficult 2nd gear shift happens occasionally only.
anyone has any insight on this? gearbox? driveshaft? rear diff? is the noise and the difficult 2nd gear related or separate issues?
any help would be appreciated.
thanks
