Ive bought a stubby aerial to put on my zed but the whippy is completely seized on, tried soaking some wd40 into the threads and then taking mole grips to it but not budging.

Any suggestions? Ta

It's a sign, I splashed out on a genuine BMW stubby only to find my whippy wouldnt budge no matter how much I tried. So stubby in the draw, and whippy useage extended for a while..

Are you using standard WD-40 (blue tin) or the WD-40 penetrating fluid - although the normal WD-40 is marketed as having lots of uses including as a penetrating fluid it's a bit of a jack-of-all-trades and you might have more success using a 'proper' penetrating oil

Yes used the standard wd40 - im wondering if it’s best to just fit a new base.

Stay on the light side and keep your whipry. Elegance and you even get to hear the radio.

Mine had a horrible silver whippy on when I bought it, so I got one of the Citroen/PSA stubbies.

When I tried to remove the silver one I had to use pliers on it and it broke - but then I didn't want it.

But radio reception was poor, so last year I got a whippy which is going to be staying.

Leave the whippy on and enjoy the radio.

Must admit, my whippy comes off easy. I remove when parked as I don't want it nicked by some jealous stubby owner :poke:

My reception with the whippy is pretty terrible as is so wont be too bothered if the stubby doesn’t get any either! :D

PB Blaster is the best penetrating fluid I've found. I've gotten frozen stuff of off 40 year old cars with it.
