Good morning, need some advice planning to change from my Mercedes Clk 2007 350 sport convertible in black , to a face lift BMW Z4 auto msport in white probably face lift version so was it 2012 on wards , will I be happy with the 4 cylinder 2 litre turbo or and I better of with the 6 cylinder 3litre , I intend to have the car as a keeper , budget around 15 k including px on my merc , any advice very welcome
Thanks rob

Welcome to the forum. :) The E89 came in in 2009. The 4 pot gets good reviews here and can easily be tweaked for ample power. If it's a keeper though your going to want a 6 pot  lots of gearbox options too. So be sure to get out and drive a few to get a feel for what you like.

One last thing. For your budget, you could also take a look at an E85 MR. Not as sofisticated as the newer models,. But plenty of weekend fun. :driving:

Hi Rob, the 4 pot turbo cars don’t sound as good as the 6 cylinder versions but they can be mapped to outperform them, they also qualify for cheaper roadtax (think it’s £190 from memory?)
You also get slightly better fuel economy, plenty of for’s and against’s and no real right or wrong choice.
Getting out and trying a few is probably a sensible idea

Welcome to the forum Rob.

I'm guessing you will be using the car as a daily, in which case an E89 would probably suit you well.

As has been said the 4 cylinder ones can be easily mapped to 3.0i performance, so it probably depends which you prefer - if you were prepared to go pre-facelift you might find a 35i within budget, and they can also be mapped!

But if it's just a weekend/sunny day toy a Z4M Roadster would be a great option.

As has been said you probably need to try all the options to see what suits you best.

Good luck anyway, and don't forget the photos once you've found one!
