Which Z4 to buy?

Hi all,

I'm currently driving a 325i M-Sport with a few extras but it's just hit its 3 year anniversary & I'm thinking of changing it.

Various home circumstances mean I don't need a 4 seater any more so I've been seriously looking at Z4's.

I have a very friendly dealer (who also happens to be a relative which is very useful!) and have been talking things through with him.

Current options are:

10 month old 23i with about 6K on the clock - 19" wheels, heated sports seats

Brand new 20i M-Sport

Brand new 28i

The best pricing deal looks like the new 20i M-Sport but I'd prefer the more powerful engine & forego the harder ride of the 20i M-Sport. However, because of current offers, the 28i may be way more expensive to actually buy (even though 'list' price is only about £1K more than a 20i M-Sport).

The additional option that popped up yesterday was the 2011 23i - it's in exactly the exterior/interior colour spec I was after and I've always been bought up on BMW six cylinder engines. Currently it's listing for the same price as the new 20i M-Sport but I'm confident it will come down a fair bit - maybe 10% - 15%).

So - my question is, which of these three would you buy and why?

Any thoughts and advice gratefully received :)

I'd go for the 23i if it's the spec you want, and you have a 6 cylinder engine too.

The 2.0 and 2.8 only came in to satisfy the global apparent need for small engines...but it's all tosh. If you can buy a 6 cylinder, and getting at a price you like, then why not!!

2.3i if it's got everything you want and that beautiful soundtrack;just get it at the right price. The distress selling of the 2.0i has devalued residuals, good luck whichever you choose.

I've seen the amazing BMW dealer offers on the 20i - you can get over £8K off list as a 'dealer deposit'.

Has there been an issue with sales on the 20i that's lead BMW to offer such good prices on these?

Thanks to everyone else for thoughts and advice :)
