Which Z4 optional equipment to buy

Hi there, newbie just about to buy a Z4 mkii 2009 onwards. I currently have a 2005 SLK.

SO looking at second hand 2009-2010 2.3i or 3.0i and seems to be some standard extras you get with the 3.0.

however, I was wondering what people thought were the best extras to get, I'm on a fair budget so just want to know value for money extras.

I think I want
- Heated Seats definitely.
- Pure white Design or anything other than standard interior,
- space for golf clubs, through loading?
- is the basic sound system ok?
- Wind deflector
- Blue Tooth Prep

Any advice greatly appreciated, the Z4 looks great.

Any benefits for either engine size? I dont do much driving.

THanks,

Simon

If you don't do much driving, get the 3.0 engine.

For me, heated seats for sure but I really like the iDrive/Nav. Plenty of people hate the basic sound system so if that is a big factor in your purchase, I'd upgrade it or go aftermarket. Also, get M-Sport if possible.

hi-fi sound System - the standard is not good at all
Adaptive suspension - sporty when you want, soft when you need it
PDC- major help in parking
3.0 is the best motor
Any wheels EXCEPT the 296's -they have many issues

Get the top of the range sound system. You will thank me when you listen to the music full blast. Secretly I turn u
My stereo, listen to the beats pump through the sub and speakers and go mental.... All in my little z4 cockpit!

Thats great all, thanks so much. :). Hopefully a good car for a few years.

Anyone know why a 3.0 seems to be better specced as standard than the 2.3?

The basic sound system is ok only if you don't listen to music very often. We have it only because the upgrades are expensive.

I'd add sport seats to your list -- or M-Sport which includes the sport seats.

Doesn't it just come with auto lights, wipers and extended lighting over the 23 model? Ow, and the extra 500cc :D

The 3.0 ltr is a lovely engine but I went for the 23 as it had everything I wanted. It was loaded with a list of extras. I have no issues at all with the power of the 23. Yes, it could do with a little more oooph when over taking, but for me its perfect and I was driving an M3 before the Z4.

thats a great help all, really appreciate your input.

Looking forward to the car, thinking havanna, blue or black with white or black interior...

definitely sport seats, heated :) also, consider navigation, not only because of the navigation side of thing but as it controls all your functions for the car

+2 because I'm repeating myself. I spent most of Saturday in a demo with the standard seats. The extra adjustments alone make the sport seats worth it.

Many of the M-Sport goodies are nice to have. The M shifter and steering wheel are both better.

When new the 3.0 had leather as standard where you had to go to 23i Msport for that cannot remember the other diferences when I ordered my 30i Msport.

Deffo on the msport, nav if you can, then put the bmw connecteddrive app your phone, it has a location finder on it which acts a bit like a tracker. 3.0 if you don`t mind the motion lotion cost, especially right now after the budget. Good luck with your search, you wont be disapointed either way you go on the the spec.
