The V10 one wasn't that quick,as it was difficult getting the power down safely. Was a bit of a handful,from what I remember the owner saying.
Lots of old threads about this, should you care to search. To sum up, from a standard E85/86 ///M perspective. The cars are geared to go to about 172 mph in 5th before they hit the limiter on the rev counter and by a number of accounts they can indeed pull and hit that limiter.304frp said:

Think you have all missed the point, the fastest Z4 is one that is on hire from Hertz / Avis etc.

As the OP I can reveal the answer (almost). This subject was a draw between red and blue and has gone to penalties. Just waiting for the penalties gained by red and blue car owners and we should have a result.

You should come on the Sunday drive on the National meet, but you've already said that's not your thing, despite never being on it,or met myself or several others, lol

Just after I had my speed limiter taken off,I took it to an old Airfield,and got to use a bit of old runway now used for trsckdays...
Got the car upto 176.2 mph,with a couple hundred rpm to go before the rev limiter
Ran out of Runway,for available braking distance,as was still on Standard brakes then,back in 2012.
Car felt ok,but definitely at its limits with a soft top z4m.imo.

A full length Airstrip ,Rob.
Part of it(less than half), has been used by a guy I know(friend if a friend from my Motorsport/track days), for several years now has used it for Track day events,or at least prior to Covid he was.

Don’t have any concerns about being able to keep up with anyone tbh, with the exception of Byron, Peter and the likes in heavily modded cars, levelish playing field no concern at all, not levelish playing field is apples and oranges
Safety is the name of the game, I’ll drive within mine and the cars limitations, if that means someone is quicker than me I’ll not lose any sleep over it
Yip, you’re correct, as I said privately the National has nothing to do with you or others, for personal reasons not my thing. Also as said, other ones will be looked at individually but the Pyrenees trip is a major financial commitment so funds will also dictate anything additional as well as my interest in the particular event.
