Which would you take home?

No contest whatsoever. Supra, and I'll pay you to take the G29 away from me having to look at it

   absolutely outstanding. And 100% the correct answer

Thats a bit embarrassing for BMW.
Maybe there is a bit of truth that someone posted on here before about Toyota tweaking the BMW engine for their cars.

The Z4 looks a bit boring :| against the supra
So for me the supra and its a coupe  win win

+1  .... I think the styling of the G29, particularly the rear is a massive backward step from the E89

The US Z4 version has 375 ponies due to more lax emissions standards... the EU variant has 340... I suspect Toyota have ‘accidentally’ just released their US version in the EU

So.... which one... asking a Coupe owner who’s just seen it mulch a vert... ha ha ha ha Toy Yoda here

Hmmmm tough decision :?

Tim.

Ignoring your obvious brand loyalty how is it a tough decision :?
One stirs me with emotion & desire  the other makes me bilious  guess that makes it a easier decision

The Supra is plug-ugly. And if the roof doesn’t come down it ‘ain’t a proper sports car! :poke:

Basically the same car, although it would feel slightly weird having a Toyota branded BMW :|

Strangely I always thought the E89s rear to be a weakness, I much prefer the latest incarnation, having said that the E89s three quarter stance wins hands down.

They're not though are they :? possibly underneath but visually you couldn't have 2 more differing bodyshells

Neither as I do not like the styling.

The Supra is way to fussy and I do not like the front end of the Z4.

The Z4 looks like a cross between a Honda S2000 (which I think look great ) and a Fiat Spyder which is not to my tastes.

I did follow a G29 while on the M25 a few weeks back was in gloss black and must admit it looked good apart from the front which is funny as I love the back end on my E85 but feel the front end is weaker in looks and aggressiveness and it was the opposite with the E89 in my eyes.

 for the top down mince down to Portofino I'd agree. But for an actual sports car, a ruddy great hole in the roof absolutely ruins the drive, either in terms added weight through cross bracing, or a chassis with the torsional rigidity of a blancmange

Surprised nonones linked to this video yet -

Makes it clear how much more power those engines are making over the 'book figure' - which I guess makes it even more of a puzzle as to why the z4 is slower?! Maybe all that cross bracing to prevent the aforementioned blancmange handling? :poke:

Think both are awful!
The Toyota seems to appeal to the under 10's and the Z.......well its just a bit boring!

Ed you’re so right.... I mean, MX5, Boxster, 458 spider, 488 spider to name but 4 are jelly chassis waste of money piles of rubbery crap not fit to grace a road..... :poke:

Which would I take home?

The Z4 - because you can see the sky and on the road in the UK you couldn’t notice that difference in performance.

I would say doubtful that many would worry about the handling either - I didn’t notice anything bad.

As the price to change from my 9k/Sep16/35is was massive then the change to an M40i specced the same would have just been plane stupid.
