Which Wheels Are More Desirable?

Hi Guys

I've just been on the phone to a dealer about a Z4 I'm looking at:

I have seen other Zeds with the double spoke alloys as per the below and enquired as to whether it was possible to swap them from the 5 spoke. I was told that this was not possible and that the wheels that everyone wants are the 5 spoke, and that I was the first person who had ever requested for them to be swapped for double spoke alloys. Is there any truth in this or is the salesman trying to sell me a bit of a porky?

It is possible so don't listen to their tosh as usual. The first one you mentioned is the more generally desirable wheel style (108's) but they're prone to corrosion.

Peter,

do you still want me to check that other one in Cooper Norwich for you?as I said I'll be there tomorrow any way.

I prefer the 108's but as mentioned earlier, corrosion is a bugger

on face lift cars i prefer the MV2-s (the multi spoked) look great on MalcZ4's car but are hard work to keep clean.

tell him you won't take the car without them and see what they come back with

let me get this right......The car you want currently has 5 spoke split rims on it but you prefer the double spoke and have asked the dealer to replace the current 5 spokes split rims with double spokes?

If thats the case then ask him what hes complaining about? he can take your "more popular" 5 spoke split rims off your car and keep them which I`m assuming he would want to do if they are more popular and put them on another car he is selling. What he is saying doesnt make sense.

Andy

took me a couple of reads before i gave up on the logic of the salesman here too

by the way Andy those prices on 2.0 Rs make that coupe you found in space grey a nice bet on the other post ....

108s are definitely more desirable - at least going by this forum :P. Still, when I was looking for mine I avoided 108s due to the corrosion issues - plus I actually prefer MV2 like you.

Cheers for the advice guys

The answer I was given for not being able to swap was that it would become a kit car; i.e. the car would no longer be sold as the same vehicle that it was produced as. Sounded like a lot of steam to me but interesting that the consensus here is that the 108's are more desireable so perhaps he wasn't completely selling me up the stream with no paddle.

Navid - I phoned Cooper Norwich yesterday and sadly they have sold the Z4 I was looking at, but thanks again for the offer it was much appreciated.

Next question then guys - What do you think I can realistically expect to get off the price of this car (currently at £13,750). He has touted a figure of £13k assuming he gets the "all clear" from the sales manager. Should I be pushing for more? And failing this, what freebies should I look to get thrown into the deal. It is a buyers market at the moment after all!

Cheers

TBH if he's already throwing a figure of £13k around without you asking, I'd be inclined to try for a bit more off - the fact he's already mentioned a price £750 below the screen price makes me think they're struggling to sell it already, so you might as well try for more!

Freebies: road fund licence, full tank of fuel, next MOT and service free, new floor mats, cleaning products, discount off any accessories for XX period of time. Don't ask, don't get :D

Edit: you could also ask for a spare pair of rear springs for when they break lol

First off that car looks stunning as is its a great colour has M.Seats and wheel and to top it off 108s you must be mad sir :D re changing wheels i had this with BMW my Zs 108s had some marks on so i asked if they could take a set of 108s of another Z4 that was forsale but was a no go :(

Re extras you should get MOT service and years Tax with that car i did plus the salesman filled the tank in the petrol station next door to dealership just before i left.

I reckon you should be aiming for 15% off list. Put the offer on the table and if they turn you down tell them they have a week to decide while you look for other cars. I reckon they'll get back to you! Buyers market
