Which way?

Ok, my white iPad2 was delivered this week, and I'm starting to use it in anger. I'm using it to post this message.

Question is, which way do you hold it, portrait or landscape? I tend to use it portrait for pretty much everything, but just wondered about everyone else. Thinking about it, this seems strange, as most pc and laptops are widescreen (landscape)...but I seem to prefer using it portrait for some reason...:?

Maybe its due to most smartphones being used in portrait. Its how I roll, and indeed doing so now.

Ah I never knew they were doing them in white now.

Portrait for me probably 90% of the time.

Yeah, thought I would go white to be different. Everyone else at work has a black one. Also got the grey cover.

The iPad iOS interface and hardware layout is designed for portrait use primarily (evidenced by the position of the camera, home button, and apple logo on the back). This is part of the reason for it using a 4:3 interface similar to a standard 8.5x11 sheet of paper. Most tablets that are portriat designed at 4:3 (eBooks such as the Kindle or Kobo readers included).

Tablets designed for landscape usage are typically 16:9 widescreen (for viewing videos as well) with stereo speakers on either side and the logo of the maker (HP, Blackberry, Dell, etc.) also in landscape orientation. The interface usually reflects this too.

The whole point of the interface is that you can adjust it as required depending on what you're looking at. There is no right or wrong way.

Both for me, as I simply use it in whichever orientation I happen to pick it up.

mostly portrait, but mine has a stand on the back, which makes it landscape when im lazy
