Which version of Bluesound BT Dongle?

I have seen a few posts about the aftermarket Bluesound Bluetooth dongle to slot in to the existing setup via the cd multichanger/cables.

One or two people have mentioned a "Newer" version that works with the phone system and MSFW controls. (my car already has the factory bmw bluetooth)
Can anyone point me to the newer version of this please for a 2008 Z4 Coupe E86?
Thanks

I have the original but have just ordered this one. Itโ€™s by the sell recommended in a previous post about a sound system upgrade.

Not got it yet. I have gone this route so I can remove the Parrot system as this is as old as the car๐Ÿ˜‚

Yes parrot is old school now. It was in a SAAB i had in 2018 and I hated it. Great in it's day though.

Is that link you sent for connection in to the cd changer cables in the boot? The listing says e85 and I have e86 z4.

Looking at the listing it connects behind the head unit and will replicate the CD changer.

If that is the case it will fit your E86 too. I will confirm once it arrives

I have one that looks the same as the one in Reamesy's post above except mine attaches to the CD changer cables in the rear bulkhead. I also have the native BMW bluetooth phone prep, but it doesn't work well with my Samsung S10 or the Iphone 8 before that. This dongle - "bluespeak" I believe it is called, works fine and was the update on the bluetooth - streaming only one from the same source.

I got it via ebay from Christian Wittich, Preissnitzstr. 6, 01099 Dresden. Email: [email protected]

Attached is a translated ebay page of the item from June last year extracted from my Paypal records. Not sure if this is still current but worth a try, or contact Christian direct.

Note there is also a bluespeak on Amazon which is completely different.

Does this work with the native mic on top of the MFSW column as opposed to using their separate one?
I.e for making / accepting Tel calls?
Thanks

No, it does not. Also something you cannot expect for the price.

BlueMusic modules only do the audio part of the Bluetooth if it comes to your phone. Hence, accepting calls, etc. needs to be done either via your phone (as I do in my E85), or if you already have an OEM mic, you can continue to use that separately and as-is (as I do in my E86; in which my phone pairs with the OEM telephone module for that and with a Bluemusic module replicating the CD-changer). You can pair any (semi-)modern phone to multiple Bluetooth connections simultaneously.

For music, it shows no tags in your display, but you can use your MF buttons for skipping tracks, etc.

I thus own two of these modules and IMHO they offer by far the best bang for buck. Barely more expensive then AUX solutions, but way better sound quality.

If you would require more functions and being able to link to your OEM mic, you could look into the Bluebus module: https://www.bluebus.dev/. Definitely more functionalities, but also a completely different price league.

Thanks guys very helpful.
I don't think I'd use the Bluebus. Seems too much hassle to me compared to other options .
Bluemusic for me seems the most sensible.
Dab 600 was on the radar but I can get all that via an app on my phone.

If my Z coupe did not have the useless sat nav flip screen I'd have bought a Halo 10' screen . I had one in my Golf and it's different class.

I can now confirm as itโ€™s fitted the BlueSpeak module which has its own mic and can accept calls either using the MFSW track forward and end with track back when in CD mode for Bluetooth music. Or the same on the head unit. If the radio is on then just press mode and that accepts the call and track back ends it. Perfect. Use Siri to start a call or map directions. Music fro Spotify also works like a charm. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

Hi Reamesy
I've just posted asking for help fitting a similar module, A couple of questions If I may. Do you have nav? And did this unit fit behind the radio head unit as apposed to behind the CD changer in the boot?

I have the Business Cd only. It fits perfectly behind the head unit. The previous module went in the rear from the boot. This goes behind the head unit. Mic routed to the steering column with plenty left should you wish to put it elsewhere.

Keen to know the same - has anyone with nav fitted this? Looking at the connector, looks like itโ€™ll fit on the back of my head unit, but be good to check if anyone has done this yet to confirm.
