Which valuation to use for used Z4

Just joined the forum looking for my first Z4. I have been researching prices and I am finding upto a 1k difference when checking price of cars vs What Car vaulation even when using mileage adjustment.

So my question is what pricing website should I use as a guide? Does extra spec tend to inflate prices I fully recognise that you buy on condition and service history as a rule do prices tend to soften in the winter months? Being an Ex MX5 owner prices did tend to soften during the winter months.

Great forum by the way

Price guides are ok but a better indication is to keep browsing the cars for sale and seeing which ones sell quickly. Don't think there is too much difference in price for the spec variations although better equipped cars will always go first.

You'd be better posting up a few potential cars and letting people see what they think of the price and equipment levels.

Satnav and msport seats seem to be what most look for, and rightly so  Well bar the satnav :fuelfire:

What you after then? 3ltr?

Get the 3ltr

Not just about the engine, but most are again better specs :)

Thats exactly what I was thinking When I did the "what do I buy" thing of Boxster vs Z4 vs S2000 it became apparent that the Z4 provides a much better spec if you wait for the right car as the original owner has already bought the extras for you besides if you look at the other two contenders running costs of the boxster can be higher and for my budget I would be running a 1999/2000 car which may require more upkeep, wheras with the Z4 I will be looking at a 2003/2004 Z4 Having driven a S2000 you do have to give it some welly to get the performance of the car

I looked at the above to, but the boxster 3.2 was out straight away with the horror stories about them. And my mates missis has a 2.7 and I don't really like them tbh. S2000 is nice, and LSD as STD iirc, but to get much out of it you really do have to be in the right gear at the right rev range. Where as the z4 is much better on the torque side.

Plus 3ltrs have 6 gears, which I wanted, and sport suspension as STD, sport button to improve the throttle and steering feel. No contest really :.)

For the record a work collegue has a turboed s2000 at 450 at the rear wheels! Insane car! Now that I would have lol

Quite like the look of these two

Good specs and priced pretty much in line with what car value

Both look good to my untrained eye - the 2nd one definitely isn't SMG according to the pics? :?

Second one has SSG/SMG gear knob and paddles.

Agree with you there Mike. You can even see the different shift change surround. I do hate sellers that put a price on and then rubbish about £99 admin fee applies

Both look like nice cars and seem well priced for 3.0i's.

Deveil is in the detail on these and the examination and test drive.

The private sale was on e bay a couple of weeks ago but did not make reserve price seems keen but only a viewing and a test drive will
if any good and as described

BMW Z4 Open 3.0i SE 2dr 2003 (53) 60,000 miles
Dealer £9,425
Private £8,430
Part exchange £8,025
Trade £7,660
What Car

Nav, Carver sounds ,18" alloys are all nice to have things, you need to decide what you really want then look for the best car you can afford. There are doggs, but also really nice ones around, but 3.0 defo have better specs.

3.0 is defo the way I want to go with the above spec

The second pistonheads one (the SMG) above was on sale earlier this year, privately on eBay. The seller was very young (about 20 IIRC) which put me off personally.

Looking at the rear of the car the Z4 badge is in the wrong place...there might be a genuine reason for this or it may be an indication of a repair and the bodyshop putting new badges on in the wrong location?

Have you seen this? Seems very well priced and open to offers. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300479828596&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
