Which torque wrench . . .

Can anyone recommend a good torque wrench, there are massive price differences out there? At some point I will want to remove my wheels and although the wheel brace will obviously do the job, when it comes to putting them back on I want to do it right.
 
Is that all you want to do with it? As the wheels are 140 nm, buy one that covers 100 - 200 nm or so, not one that goes from 20 - 200 as the wide range is no good.

Cheers pvr, yes that is all I will be using it for.
 
I have two Roebucks for the various ranges and they are about £100 each. Think Halfords Prof series have a good review as well.
 
+1 on the Halfords pro wrenches - they have a lifetime guarantee (as long as you keep the receipt) so, if you see one for sale on't FleaBay make sure it includes the receipt
 
Always remember to store a torque wrench loosened off and untensioned or you'll find that it'll be out of whack very quickly

For removing wheel nuts, especially stubborn ones, a 1/2" square drive breaker bar is worthwhile - you can pick up 750mm ones for about £14 and the extra leverage they offer makes life very easy

Erm, does your X5 use 14mm bolts by any chance? The BMW spec for 14mm bolts is 140Nm +/-10Nm

BMW spec for 12mm bolts (as on the E85/86) is 120Nm (88lbft) +/-10Nm you don't want to overtighten them as they'll stretch and weaken

It's fairly easy to remember as, for the common wheel bolt sizes, BMW now tend to spec (Bolt Diameter x 10)Nm +/- 10Nm

That said, as BMW only seem to use 12mm & 14mm bolts, you should be able to use 130Nm for any BMW and still be within spec
