Morning guys,
just been checking over my newly acquired 3.0 and all the springs look pretty rusty and going off the failure rate with these i am going to change them all but what springs are best to use and is it worth lowering while i am at it.

Rob

i'm looking to do the same but not lower it on my 3.0i :D

so if someone could give both options we'll both be happy :D

If you want to lower it then you cant go wrong with Eibach springs to be honest, if you want standard height i would go for OEM BMW ones as it can be hard to find the correct Msport springs otherwsie!

Is it a danger with it being lowered with speed bumps etc? I'm looking to go over the bushes also and thinking of the springs and dampers perhaps. If there is a problem with the factory springs then surely the oem are the same? Unless the material has been treated differently?

As the rears are prone to breaking if you dont want to go lower then i would just replace with BMW ones - but do them yourself so save labour costs - which are a pretty easy DIY.

If you want a slightly better ride and dont mind going lower then Eibach get my vote.

Speed bumps are fine with them.. but multistoreys and slopes on driveways can be a challenge.

Order the springs from BMW as they will have a record of what suspension is on the car , but fit yourself it really is an easy DIY job ,

Better ride and lower? That sounds tempting...

Can't be right, maybe if the roads are super smooth :)

I found mine to be very hard, I even felt sorry for the car as it crashed over the bumps and imperfections in the roads around Kent. That was on H&R springs, I'd only consider lowering springs with B8 shocks.

One of my front springs broke into 3 pieces at the weekend. I am going to replace both sides but should I replace the whole unit, shock and coil?
I presume you can get pre-assembled units to bolt on?
Where is the best place to buy and what kind of costs am I looking at do you reckon?

If there's any threads or vids on this, I'd appreciate a link.
I've been quote £315 to replace both springs by the garage, which I think is ok but I'd like to cost replacing the dampers too and I could prob do that myself if a single unit.
