Which Service?

Need a second opinion from you guys please. My Z4MC is telling me it wants an Oil Service in 1500 miles (its done 54k). That seems fine but this is the first service its needed in my ownership and looking at the history it hasn't had an Inspection II yet in its lifetime. The service history shows this:

Running in check 1,531 miles
Oil service 15,467 miles
Oil service 30,370 miles
Inspection 1 42,956 miles

Should I be concerned or just give the car what its asking for? Incidently it is running very well with no known issues.
Thanks in advance

The second oil service should have been an Ins 1, not oil .

To be honest, they are all fairly long between services. If it was me, I would probably get the inspection 2 done now as you will be running the original gearbox and diff oils.

Mine has just had its Ins 2 done at 42k which was a little early, but not an issue.

Where you thinking of getting it done? Indy or Dealer? Where have the previous services been done?

Looks like an Ins I is missing and an Ins I has been carried out instead of a II.

I'd get an Inspection II or contact the last dealer to try and establish what was done :)

I have a very good local independant garage that I trust so I'll be going there. I don't think the main dealers premium is at all justifiable particularly as the last two services were at an Indy also, so I've also lost the "full main dealer history" tag. I spent a lot of money on my last car (a Porker) keeping the main dealer history intact and I dont believe it made any difference come resale time

Yeah I agree, one of the decent Indies is the way to go. Just took mine out of the Fulll BMWSH for the inspection 2 and very happy!

Definitely Insp II, your car has a very strange SH, ordinarily, Insp I's are required between 20-25k and Insp 2 40-50k.

You're not miles out, so get the Insp II carried out and enjoy a clean bill of health.

Thanks for the input guys. To summarise then the last two services were probably the wrong way around i.e should have been Inspection 1 @ 30k ish and Oil Service @ 42k ish. But no harm done and an Inspection II next will get it back on track and in sync. Sorted :)

pretty much.

Make sure you get the valve clearance report (it's a very important aspect of the service). Worth seeing if you can upgrade the diff oil also.
