Which rear top mounts ?

Getting some Bilstein shocks to complement my eibach pros ( basically a b12 kit ) and have been told that the rear top mounts are prone to knock / weak point .

What’s the options ?

Rouge, tuner ?

Don’t want anything harsh or more nvh

Also front top mounts ... worth refreshing with oem ? Or any others out there that are a good option ?

Cars done 55k for reference

Thanks

Also your OEM mounts should be ok, not sure on the suspension set up on your car as I don’t know what model you have but you could have a seperate bearing or it could be built into the top mount. If it’s the seperate bearing they are cheap so worth changing, if it’s the latter then I’d asses the ones which come off first :)

I’ll try to dig out my RE invoice, though Roy C again will be able to advise... another little tweak

With the rouge mounts .... any harsher ride or more nvh at all ?

It’s a z4m coupe

Nope quieter than the ones I took off :)

They have 2 big ish bits of rubber the OEM ones aren’t a patch on them for quality etc :)

I think you’ll have the seperate Bearings then as my M3 but I am not 100% on that :)

Also have you ordered your shocks yet?

If not I’d see if they do Koni Sports for your Zed after trying Bilstein and Koni items on my Zed and M3 I can confirm the Koni items are a far superior product and I won’t ever be fitting Bilstein shocks to any car again

Ah don’t tell me that :headbang:

No not ordered yet but I’ve had nothing but good times with the 3 Bilstein b12 kits I’ve had over the years with different cars ! I think their dampers are fantastic value .

Yes spoke to Roy ... and that’s where I’ll be getting the dampers and mounts from 👍.... he’s only 20 min drive from me which is a bonus !

Just always like to do my home work before I break out the dosh

I have paired mine with Eibach springs as I didn't want it very low but others have paired with H&R etc

Must say hardly notice much ride height difference with the Eibachs (some but not much). Have found Koni’s are dampened at an even harder setting than Bilstein, so whilst give a sportier ride would find on Kent’s appalling roads, heavier damping & using even lower springs would be crazy.

If you watch Bilstein’s testing vids, you’ll see them specifically tested on uneven surfaces where more modest but still updated damping is far more effective for road use.

If you’re ever in Kent OP, are welcome to try the ride

Did you have to run spacers with that set up?

No need to run spacers on my set up mate, I am running 260M wheels with wider tyres and no rubbing etc

Depends on the Koni's you are using I guess, mine is a lot more comfortable and the dampening feels superior to the bilsteins they replaced, but they do have dampening adjustment on them where as the Bilsteins didn't.

All down to preference I guess.

Also just to note mine is an M3 so its going to be a different drive to a Z4 so maybe its an unfair comparison.
