Which Oil

This has probably been done to death, but on the Opie website they have Castrol Edge Professional TWS 10w60 which is what I have used before, but they also have Castrol Edge Titanium 10W60 FST which they say is also for M Cars, which is £15 per 4 litres cheaper. Is this ok to use?
 
As a supplemental question, anyone using Fuchs Titan Pro Race S 10w60? It's a full Ester based oil from Group V base oils, so best of the best. Quite a few mentions of it being good at quieting valve train noise given its qualities and high sheer strength.

They are both ok and marked "Exclusive Approval for BMW M-models". Titanium is the new mixture with the latest API SN classification.
I bought Titanium last fall by recommendation from the supplier.

I used to use that in my M5s because it was cheaper that the BMW recommended TWS at the time, and had a better spec.

Was a lovely red/purple colour IIRC.

However I used to go through about 1 litre per 1500 miles in the M5, so a small saving per bottle worked out at a good saving per year. The Z4M doesn't use any oil between services and my monkey uses what BMW tells him to use.
 
Mine doesn't appear to use an appreciable amount, just keen to use the best available. Apparently a few of the Audi RS boys use it, but a different grade.

Not so sure - its listed as a semi synthetic oil, which would be inferior to the standard Castrol, and consequently the Fuchs which is an Ester based oil, so meant to be the best you can get from what I have read from various sources.

Know plenty of guys who have used this stuff through BMW Car Club, it's absolutly fine in an S54.

If it's not significantly cheaper then you may as well stick to fully synth.

Alternative, just buy the cheapest dino oil you can find - as 'semi synth' can contain no ester-based lubricant at all, and just contain plain dino oil with a bit of cracked dino oil.

Not it in the M but have used Pro Race S in my 911 and Elise - once my engine is out of warranty I'll be switching to it at the next oil service.
 
i hear great things about the titan pro Race S .... id definitely be willing to try it out and run some oil tests for the first 12 months. TWS is not the be all and end all of oil.
