Which model

Hi folks, I need a wee bit of help. Planning buying a z4 2010 onwards, but which model ?? I have been told by a couple of guys that the 23i 6 cylinder engine was the one to go for but I would like to hear your opinions. Cheers Mike

Have a go in a 35i or 35is. Same average fuel usage as the other 6cyl models but a lot more torque at low revs.

Any 6cyl would be a great choice though. They make a great noise.

+ 1

Not much difference in fuel mpg between 23i and 35i maybe 3 or 4 mpg depends how you drive it insurance about the same tax £25 a year more so not a lot of difference but both are good

I have a 35iS and love the power - but you can't use it that often ... that is the main issue as the thing is so quick ! Great noise on any 6 cylinder and louder on 35iS due to BMW sports exhaust !

I haven't tried one but would guess the 28i (although a 4 cylinder) is a really good car with more useable power than the 35i or 35iS. If can be more rewarding to driver a *slightly* slower car as you can drive it harder more often. That said, no 6 cylinder growl. Better fuel economy by far I would think ?

I bought a 28i as I knew it would be a balance between power, noise and MPG...

I have enough of a problem using much of the power of the 28i and get 36-ish mpg :D

My 3.0 gets 34 mpg ish
So the smaller engined fours aren't that much better!

Economy wasn't the reason for buying tho!

My 35iS has managed 24mpg over 2500 miles ... and two cars ;) The first did 1500 miles (with 28K on the clock) the newer one has done 1000 miles (and has 3.5K on the clock).

Both for my driving 24mpg. Mainly 'fun' driving or commuting. I didn't buy it for the economy but it is doing better than my Z4M Roadster ever did (not by too much but still better).

I drove a Z4 28i, I knew that I was going to get a Z4 over a BRZ & also the 28i was the right level of performance... Then I drove a 35i & realised 6 cylinders was a requirement of truly enjoying the Z4 experience!
