Which mats and where to get them ???

Hi,

I'm looking to get new mats for the Zed...which ones are the best and where can I get them ?

The ones that came with the car don't look right and keep sliiping forward under the pedals.
Are the proper mats designed to be fixed down ?

Thanks

Don't waste money on aftermarket mats. They never fit and go to look shabby quickly. OEM carpet mats are about £50 from the dealership (many forum members go for the kinky rubber alternative - not sure of price).

I bought mine over a year ago and they still look as good as new.

Proper mats that come with the car should have patches of velco on the reverse (near the end of the mat closest to the seat). Mine don't move in the least although it I don't position them correctly the driver's one catches on the clutch when you release it. Easily fixed though.

They velcro down chester. The backing on the mat has velcro on to mate up with the velcro on the carpet, at least mine do anyway im assuming this is the norm. The standard mats are really good and snugly fit round the throttle pedal etc.

Is the Velcro on the carpet just stuck on or stitched ?

I'm liking the sounds of the fitted ones but hate paying the stealers !!

Know what u mean chester, bit steep for a set of car mats but the best option really. Im that sad I have actually put another small mat on top to protect the mat underneath just where your heels go which is where they normally wear. YES THAT SAD... I dont want to pay the stealers £50 either :) . Im not sure whether they are stitched or not to be honest (does your carpet not have the velcro then?)

...but what do you put on top of the small mat that you put on top of the BMW mat? It's got to stop somewhere :D

OR just had a thought, I could make some size 9 pieces of carpet that I could velcro to the bottom of my shoes, problem solved

I knew I should have kept my gob shut

BMW OEM rubber mats are in my car atm (because of the weather). They are cheap and fit perfectly. Velour mats for summer months.

Autostyle make very good aftermarket mats but will cost you more http://www.autostyle.co.uk/ used to have these in my old car even had a show set which i would pop in at shows i did get them to send me some colour samples but they were to far of so will be going for OEM carpet with velcro in spring

The dealer quoted me £97 inc VAT for mats :/

I bought some z4 plain ones from ebay until winter is out of the way, fit pretty well and for £9 its a no brainer!

I bought some sticky back velcro strips from hobby craft and stuck the opposing side to the floor velcro under the mat.

Done :driving:

I've got beige :( OEM ones on top of OEM black rubber ones for when it's really dirty outside. Not surprisingly in spite of frequent hand washing with the the usual carpet shampoo stuff they were looking a bit grubby a few weeks ago so I took a deep breath, folded each mat into 4 (fold over, then fold over again - passenger side is hardest) and shoved them in the washing machine at a low temp with some washing powder. I figured if this didn't work I'd buy some new ones but it was worth having a go rather than paying the stealers £80 or £90. They came up a treat, including the stitching on the edges and the creases where I folded them soon came out. Please don't sue me though if you try this and they melt, fall apart or blow your washing machine up!

Black rubber mats do not really match beige interior. I have black interior so rubber mats do not look odd in the car.

My driver's side mat has a hole forming adjacent to the accelerator. I will be on the hunt soon. Personal preference is the carpet type over rubber. Comfort factor on shoeless feet, and looks smarter IMO.
