Which is quicker??

I'd be struggling to put money on either to win... stripped out Golf is tempting at lower speeds, but the zed's a sure winner once you're near 100

I own an 1985 mk2 golf Gti which was built for track days originally, last time on the rolling road it was 146 bhp. I would put my money on your Z4 anyday. Let us know how you get on! :driving:

Golf rolling start is my bet.

surely the Zs tourque will be a big advantage??

Agree - torque is what really gets you moving quick. My 3.0 Jag diesel is quicker at 5.9 to 60 than the 6.0 of the 3.0 Zed (autos), despite weighing in at nearly 2 tonnes. It's 600 NM or torque feels likem it eats the Zed alive.

Not when the car weights nothing, think of the Elise.

I've got experience of 'Ring Bunny Golfs (stripped out, roll-caged, sticky-tyred, race suit & gloves, lots of noise) at the 'Ring vs my Z4MC, and the hardly brake for the corners, which means they carry more speed than me through them and onto the next 'straight' piece of track. The one in the picture below took 3/4 of a lap to overtake - although he must have thought I was just playing with him as he kept taking the dry line into some fast corners so that I couldn't overtake. Eventually overtook him using a huge amount of kerb through Pflantzgarten

A tighter, twister track might favour the Golf more, and something like the old Castle Combe circuit (pre-chicanes) might suit the Z4 better.

Lovely picture mmm-five

My ///M will be ruby black - bit with a proper roof :poke:

I really think we need video of tomorrow's race :D

Lotus are quick because they hold their speed in the twisty bits. Son in law to be races and they really don't accelerate quick compared with lots of normal stuff. Their are exceptions though. Buddy has a stage 4 VX220 tutbo and that's just not normal physics...

whats the saying.... "there is no replacement for displacement"

0-60 times the Z will be quicker... and above legal speeds the Z will destroy the golf. However it will get a good head start up to 30.
