Which interior wrap?

For the sake of £9 and half an hour of your time, why not take a punt on this and wrap a piece and see how it goes. If you love it, you could go for some higher quality stuff...

Spare dash kit arrived today. Heavier than I expected.
Ready for cleaning and wrap testing at some point.

I think the OEM twin leather option looks great. Would be nice to have a cream and black maybe?

Like this but instead of Phoenix - cream?

Yeah, still planning and visualising options.

Question: do you need to remove the entire centre console in order to swap out the gear/centre surround trim? I can’t find anything online about removal for painting or wrapping this part. Plenty on the main dash, but nothing on the centre console trim?!

Removing the centre console is a pig of a job! Have you thought about having it Hydro dipped which costs about £150 for the three pieces and looks good?

My Z4MC originally came with wood and it just did not suit the car, hence why it was the first job I did. Wood interiors is not for sports cars, but luxury cars or GTs in my view!

Yeah, I’ve done more digging and it would seem that the entire centre console needs to come out to access the billion screws underneath. Might wait until I’m ready to implement a few other jobs while that’s out before tacking.

I’ve emailed a couple of companies for hydro dipping. Would be my preferred route of the costs work out I think.

As for wood, I know what you mean, but for me there’s 19th century burr and then there’s 21st century fine/dark wood grain finish. With all the plastic going on in cabins, it helps offset and bring some personality and warmth in as a material (can you tell I’m a creative director yet?). Add to that my beige interior and again it becomes more complimentary.

....plus I’m not really that bothered if others don’t like it as it’s my car, and I’ll likely own it until it’s in a Tilbury field

EDIT: you had a Z4MC that had been specced with wood and not carbon weave?!

Yes I had a Z4MC specked new with wood and not carbon leather and yes it looked bl@@dy terrible, hence why I changed it rather quickly. Even my local BMW Indi said how s**t it looked with wood!
