Which gear knob?

I've have the second one fitted on mine and it does make a difference in the gear change. However I have no experience of the first one though.

The second in the zed. I have both, the first in a 1 series. It doesn't look right in a zed.

Plus it's twice the price.

Cheers Guys.

I really like both but I'm gonna get my wheel covered by Royal wheels in the future...probably perforated leather on east & west, smooth leather north south... so the 1st one may suit better.

Is it possible to order the 1st one without the gaiter? Must ring the dealers in a bit.

Jack (at Royal Steering Wheels) re-covered my ZHP so it matches the new steering wheel. So you could get a proper match with the second one.

This. It will look much better than number 1.

Second one (ZHP) but much cheaper if you give Sopers BMW in Lincoln a ring and quote this forum for a discount.

Cheers lads.

I contacted my local BMW dealer and priced a few knobs:

1) ZHP - Part No: 25117896886 £55

2) 3 series M tech Knob - Part No: 25118037309 - £115

3) 5 Series M Tech Knob - Part No. 255112284057 - £115

I don't think the second two are worth the extra money although they do include the gaiter.

I think the ZHP is one for me :D !

Should be in stock tomorrow... its a little more expensive than Sopers but worth it as I'll get it fitted this weekend! :driving:

I suppose your next question is 'how do I fit it' ?

There's plenty of topics on this forum including a few 'fat lip' stories.

Forget your common ZHP

Storm is the way forwards. 500g of billeted stainless steel. Gear changes after that will never feel the same again.

Yeah I've read the posts on fitting... hopefully it comes off easily enough

My wife's car has a solid stainless steel gear knob and to be honest its far too cold to the touch on a cold morning... living in Belfast most of the morning are cold!!

I hear you on the temperature issue. I keep meaning to put a sock on it but never got around to it!

Anyway, knob removal guide is as follows:

1/ Sit in passenger seat
2/ Put car into 2nd gear
3/ Grab with both hands
4/ Short, sharp pull(s)
5/ Ensure your head is out of the way

Good luck!

Thanks Inkey$

My wife has got a tiny little woolen/knitted hat that came free with an Innocent Smoothie that fits perfectly on her gear stick!
