Which exhaust for the 3.0i? RPI, Supersprint, Remus etc..

Hi,

following on from a previous thread about wanting a meatier sound, i have set aside £300 for a catback/backbox/exhaust..

Can anyone on here recommend an exhaust for the car. The car would also be used for the odd motorway cruise, so i'm hoping any droning wont bleed my ears..

I will buy one before the end of this week. Any possible sites with a decent price are also welcome.

Many Thanks
Don :driving:

well....wait another couple of weeks , put a little more money on side....and go for the good stuff....
(Eisenmann of course)

Does that £300 include your hike in insurance premiums as well? ...

iv'e got remus b/boxes on my mine and the sound imo is just right,no drone.
type-o,yes remus not rumus!!as for the sound i think they sound great, just loud enough

Depending on your age and ncd this could be a fair chunk on that budget!

I think swiftcover wanted an extra £150 if i had an aftermarket exhaust - regarless of power gains/loss!

Elephant charged me £20 for my exhaust and 'cosmetic' modifications. Try fitting a strut brace though and all hell breaks lose

The remus is quite loud and the miltek is even louder. Have a view of somwe of them on youtube. Or go for custom job.

I think my exhaust is just right, almost a standard sound but with more bass and a slight 'rasp', but its quite expensive just for a backbox. http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y234/ballymagic/?action=view&current=essexhaust.flv

Dreamer, that sounds fantastic! Impressive recording too if that's just a standard camcorder.

Don,I won't mention my love of Eisenmann given the stated budget. Keep an eye on MrWhippy's posts... he's just bought a standard box and has some interesting mods planned and you can guarantee they'll be well documented!

Also, check out Motorsport World... http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk and Demon Tweeks. May be worth picking up Performance BMW and see if anyone has any sales one - pointed me to a good deal at A-L Tuning

EDIT... add BlueFlame to that list - you can deal direct with them.

I think at the next meet we should set up a camera and do drive by filming of cars with exhaust mods... nothing gratuitous, just for information purposes

Hi guys, i've upped the budget to £400-£500.

I rang the insurance guys, and they told me there will be no hike in insurance which is good!

BUT, i cant find a Miltek for love nor money. Everywhere i have rang has told me due to little interest, the exhaust was discontinued.

Ahhh, i purely used the dealers from the Miltek site. Will look at Motorworld Sport!!!

I'm also looking at the Blueflame backbox. Anyone have any opinion on this?

Sorry, that should have been Motorsport World!

Bigcoose has a BlueFlame, his was the pattern for the Z4 system, quick review on this thread...

I wouldn't rule out Remus - ace is very happy with his and those that have heard it gave it praise.

Did that include fitting? Where did you buy it from mate.

Cheers

i got it from elite in rainham essex included fitting which is not striaghtforward. i originally had a milltek which sounded good but the car went back 3 times as it did not fit very well in the end they changed it for the remus now perfect!

this is not a very good vid clip i took when i first got it on but i am hoping to get some better ones now my z is out for summer  th_blueflamevid1.jpg

I'm going for Miltek..

The steel may not be as good. However, it does seem to sound slightly better than the Remus and Blueflame when on full chatter...

Cheers
