Which engine oil?

It shouldn't make any difference - my 325i with an N52 engine had done 132K and was serviced at a Main Agent, so would have got OEM spec.
 
I got some occasional tapper/lifter noise in my coupe, not often and usually dissapeared 30 seconds after start up.
Read up on ester based oils and clinging abilities. went for fushs titan pro S.

Never heard from the lifters again. will be going in again in a couple months. pricey compared to the euro car parts offer stuff but for something done twice a year, an extra £20 or so isnt a huge deal.
 
Fuschs Titan Pro S is good oil, I use it in the VW, but the BMW and the Porsche run on Millers Nanodrive yes it is expensive but well worth it. Millers is the full ester oil plus nano particles for that all important protection on the cold start. https://www.millersoils-shop.co.uk/cfs-5w40-nt-plus-engine-oil have a read, see what you think. If you intend to keep your car for a long time, give it some thought. If you are not intending to keep it for a long time and change the oil at 6000 miles and at least every 12 months then any decent brand, including Castrol will be fine. You cars handbook should have a table that tells you the recommended grade of oil in relation to the temperatures you car sees throughout the year. We used to have winter and summer weight oils at one time. :) Now we have multigrade.

Just been looking at the Millers Nanodrive. Is 5w40 as per the link correct for the 3.0si?

The Millers website gives the options for each car . yours as below , the Trident full synth 5w30 is perfectly good enough for the N52 , you need 6.5litre btw , as mentioned above Opie are great for info & buying from , they will help you decide :thumbsup:

I am running it in mine. Nanotech CFS NT 5W40 to be precise.

Even made my RX8 race car reliable ;)
