Hi I am looking at a dash camera and was wondering what the forum are using and their opinions / recommendations

Many have installed the Mini 801 which for the money is 1080 HD quality and I am going to be buying one as well :D

There is a good thread here with installation guides as well http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=60245

There's a newer processor and the Mini 801 has been replaced by the 803. I've just bought a GS6000 A7 which was on offer at Amazon.

I had read that there was a new processor due, I have the 801 which has been producing excellent results and has been fault less so far

Nice camera, how are you going to mount it and are you hard wiring it like I did?
yes hard wire from here.....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351073614007?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

mount from here....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371068400179?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

may not use the mount may custom mount on the mirror have a lot of playing to do :D

I have been using a Roadhawk for quite a while now and its robust, works well etc etc .....
Just upgraded it to the HD model ........ 239 quid, maybe a bit pricey but then it does work
and the old unit has never given me problems ......... has GPS included and records position
and speed in picture.

I am always a bit dubious about dashcams having GPS as it could always be used against you if you had an accident and you had been found to be speeding

Like Swiftly I've been using the 801 for sometime now and it has proved utterly reliable and faultless in operation. Its been nicely cooked in hot summer sunshine and chilled in winter with no problems.

It goes the other way as well though ....... something happens or somebody accuses you of something ....... time, date, place and speed in picture can help

Have you looked at using your smartphone as a dash cam? I've tried Autoguard for android. You need a sturdy mount plus it drains your battery, so needs plugging in, but no different from a separate dash cam.
Just a thought!

It wouldn't take them long to calculate your speed from the footage of any video camera.

So cheap I'm tempted to have a play with one of these. :o

the dash cam is now wired in and working a treat have it on a suction behind the mirror but am moving it shortly to fit directly on the rear view stem to make it look a lot tidier and almost invisible :D
