Which Dampers?

I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and guess that my 14 year old 115k mile dampers are shot. Car crashes over bumps quite hard, and seeing as im going to be changing out the top mounts I may as well change the dampers while im there.

I have e86 with m sport suspension, i just want original equivalent dampers. So what are the best priced options, b4's , sachs, other? and where is best to buy from?

I am happy with my B4's

sach's I think were the OEM suppliers so probably couldnt go wrong with them either but there doesnt seem a huge difference in price so I would go b4's. I certainly wouldn't want anything harder on a road car and feel alot of people kid themselve's with how stiff shocks they run are actually doing them any good rather than crashing down the road.

I got my B4's from autodoc, still pretty cheap even after brexit.
 
Yeah, if you read bilsteins site, it states they are an upgraded oem replacement meant to be used with OEM M sport springs. I have B4's with eibaach pro springs and runs fine.

make sure to double check the bilstein part number for the coupe, apparently there are a few different numbers and some people had gotten the wrong ones.

Yep, that's about right. I bought mine from eBay with a listed price of £337, but bought them during a 20% off sale so ended up paying £260 odd. I am not sure if you can find them cheaper elsewhere, someone will advise if they have managed to :)

If you still have OE springs then you might as well change those too, they will eventually fail.

Suplex for like-for-like, Eibach for lowered.
 
ill change the springs as and when they go, the rears have been done once already anyway. Not looking to pour money into this car unnecessarily. Only starting a bit of a refresh as i noticed one of my front strut top mounts has a tear in it

Just had my bilstein b4s delivered, all the way from Poland. Also included shock covers and all 4 mounts. While the make of these is hart and not a well known make, they look decent enough. Time will tell.

All in 320 quid. Off eBay. Delivered by FedEx. Took around 10 days.

For those interested, when you see them advertised they're around 380 ish but save them to your watch list and they send you an offer.

I half expected to get an import duty or fee post brexit but nothing so far.

I have done exactly the same, probably from the same seller. Unfortunately I also have a tax and duty invoice from FedEx for £87!!! Not happy, I can't get a hold of anyone to confirm weather i am liable for this as I placed the order and paid for it on the 24.12.20, so as far as I understand we were still in the EU and not liable for import duty.

Got a letter from FedEx with the invoice, I believe they pay the duty for you and hold the items until you pay the bill.
Still trying to get hold of someone at FedEx to try to sort it all out.
