Which Coilovers for Zed

As some of you may already know that although I love the look of my lowered Zed, the font is too impractical for most of my in town driving, too many speed bumps that Ive got too negotiate.

So, after considering OEM shock/spring setup, I'm now considering getting coilovers.

I have no real experience of what the best ones to get are. My budget being £700 as I will have to get them fitted too.

Ive looked at SPAZ RSX, BC Racing BR RA Series and D2 Racing ones with a 6 week lead time on the D2s.

With my limited knowledge I'm edging towards the SPAX ones, any thoughts would be very much appreciated, Im looking at ordering before the weekend
 
look on gaz shocks website, based in Essex, they are currently making me some custom adjustable dampers, but they said they would do front coil overs I think around £500.00

ones im talking about would be height adjustable

however cant comment further until I receive the goodies

I'm really pleased with your comment Machine monkey, just what I was hoping to hear. Where did you buy yours, I was looking at Larkspeed, £639, including postage

Luke the spark, custom dampers sound great, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start with bespoke items, but I really look forward to hearing about your experience. Pics before and after would be good as well as driving experience
 
I was mega lucky and brought them off a guy on hear. I paid £350!they where hardly used.
They are not hard to fit easier than lowering springs IMO no spring clamps to take your head off with!! You will need a 4 wheel alignment after. Still got to do mine it's twitch over 60.

But I can't fault them I had FK lowering springs on and hated the crashy ride and hora me bobing over uneven roads. Since fitting these there is no body roll and smoothes bumps out I just love them.

Wonder how much my local mechanic will prise out of my ever deflating wallet? :cry:
 
I was gonna offer to help then had a look where you are!!

No idea but it's a good 2 3 hours work. If you can hang around when they fit them it might help out when if you want to adjust them.
 
Mine were £349 delivered... though technically I had to buy two sets... well in all fairness I bought one set and the forum paid for the other set... you guys are all legends :thumbsup:

Excellent so far... thought they haven't exactly been ' road tested yet' they've been 'push tested' :)
 
Ba3bas has the BC coils on his IIRC, might be worth sending him a PM to see how he got on with them. (not heard any complaints)

Weitec by KW. Fit's your budget perfectly.

They're basically a set of V1's with a different brand on them.

I'm sure any KW owner here will back me when I say they make fantastic products.

Otherwise the AP coilover which I believe Marius runs is another option that is within your budget. (Larkspeed have them up for £500 so you can have them fitted with change to spare from £700)
 
I decided to get the standard Sachs springs, feels and drives much better, got winter tyres on the rear, so looking forward to driving it through the winter

I read somewhere, i don't remember where, that even though KW coilovers are great product ( and i support this idea since i got KW3 on my corsa vxr and were the best investment i ever made on the car) they are not suitable for BMWs. Anyone knows anything about it? Furthermore i was told from the garage mechanic i take my z4 to, that i need to be very careful on the coilover choice i make because the ride may become really squeaky and ruff since it is a roadster. Any ideas?
 
Regarding the BC, they are awesome. Very compliant and very adjustable and easy to adjust.
The Z specific ones have damper adjustment on the side of the damper for the rears so you just need to jack the car up to reach instead of peeling the carpet open.

Handy when you switch to find a balance that suits.

Adjusting them height wise is a simple affair by adjusting the length of the damper.

This keeps the preload on the spring set.
 
Hi thanks for the answer! I have used KW coilovers in another car and i know that they are top notch products both quality and usability wise. My main concern is wether the bmw ride will become less confortable and more squeaky (because it is a roadster) if i change to coilovers
