I'm giving serious consideration to getting rid of my Z already, and I think I want to go old school and go for an E30 Coupe in either 318i or 320i guise.
I know it's a bit old but I prefer a non-distinct, easy to maintain car that I can fiddle with and is happy to be driven 10 miles per day.
Some great ( Cayman R ) & some quirky choices like the E30 :? Soft spot for these as it was a 1990 320i Se that kicked off a lifetime of BMWs )
Leaves me no nearer a solution to my own quandry though
In no particular order i'm mentally juggling the following for a whole plethora of reasons
with up to £15k + V6 to throw into the "problem"
Cayman ( just love the whole package & price but no roof off potential ? )
987 Boxster (love the flat 6 & think these are a great used buy under £10k right now )
E89 Z4 (perfect combo of coupe/convertible capable of long distances in comfort ? )
Z4 M roady ( a box to tick but not sure it fits my criteria ? :? )
Z4 3.0Si ( could sorn my V6 TT & keep for the winter / sell the Z end of summer ? )
or the wildcard of some finance & go 997
Although we have only had ours for coming up to 20 months we have spoke about what we would get next.
Its a very difficult one as there is not that much around that is as good looking for the money and at the moment we cant come up with anything.
Im sure we will have ours for many years but when it is time to swap the mini we are thinking of an X6 or an Evoque.
Get a very nice manual e89 35i for that money Mr Wilks, get one for a bit then change for a boxster next year, prob wouldn't want to go e89 after a boxster.
BMW 840ci - partly as a project but hopefully not a big one....current screensaver and hopefully end up as a second car, not a swap.
Also would have my old Celica back in a flash - so much car for the money.
Not quite along the same lines as everyone else but its more realistic for me than saying 99 Turbo S...
Being a bit boring but we are looking at chopping in the wifes SLK for something more practical... Drove an evoke this weekend.. and a Qashqui last weekend... leaning towards the nissan from a budget point of view
Although i can't see myself changing the Z4 any time soon, I have a longing desire for an exige S/elise SC and i'd quite like a caterham R300.
If life dictates a need for more space and practicality then i'd like to think a 1M could make the shortlist but they're a little pricey so i may have to 'settle' for an E9x M3.
That said, i'd be happy to keep the Z4 and buy a golf R32 or an M135i as a practical, fun daily.
Tricky one this for me i suspect it will be a z4mc. If money was not an issue i would have a c63 for everyday use and a 197- Porsche turbo
Kind of the dream car above...
We have all had a variety of cars i'm sure & at wildly differing budgets .
For those that are already looking to their next motoring step which car have you set your sights on when its time to change ?
I might finally change to a 2 car setup unless BMW gives me a good lease deal on a 2 series convertible when the Z4 is up.
Cars of interest are a e39 M5, the Mercedes CLKs, a e39 wagon, a w211 diesel (i6 only, that v6 stinker can go to hell). I wouldn't rule out a 6-series convertible.
A stick shift e46 M3 with heated seats this time around.
I dunno. I could also see myself buying a e89 if my lease doesn't show any problems and the value collapses enough. Americans hate the e89 so who knows,
