Would like to get a code reader for my 2004 E85.

Would either of the below be suitable and which is the preferred option?

Anyone got links to the exact one they have bought that works well?

The ELM ones from eBay with the Torque app on your phone are surprisingly effective. I've not had a car that I couldn't read the codes on yet (I'm sure they have their limitations)

This is the one I've got

I have tried this but it wouldnt read the fault codes.

I recently bought the C110 - excellent, and will clear the airbag light, which I understand the D900 does not. Make sure you get the latest (version 3) software version. But only works with BMW or mini, so may not have the versatility of D900 for other cars.

Don't suppose you have the link of where you bought it from?

I bought it from a seller on EBay, but I just checked and he's not selling these at the moment. There are lots of others, all around the same price. Message them to check the software version if it's not stated, and avoid the China or HK sellers, which aren't much cheaper.

Incidentally, there are a couple of used units on EBay at the moment, if you can be bothered to watch them and last-minute bid.
