Where's the worst driving you have seen?

I have got to ask as I am currently working in Libya and the driving standards or lack of them are unbelievable, the only lane discipline that exists is how many cars can fit inbetween the kerbs at the traffic lights, if there are no kerbs then they drive up the side effectively on the verge to get to the front of queue and then turn in front of everybody, roundabouts are approached flat out and hope the drivers on the roundabout let you join, get to the left hand side of 4 lanes trying to go round said roudabout and attempt to turn right, then weave across the road overtaking/undertaking the other cars all while having one hand placed for quick use of the horn.
You can amuse yourself playing spot the car without any dents, 2 so far. Headlights seem optional as do coloured lenses on the back, I'm sure they would have been fitted when they were in Switzerland or Holland (I see how the car scrappage scheme works now).

Well. Sooon it will be here, me in my car

Thus far I'd say Paris with Vegas a close second. However I have not seen London's driving yet.
Although, your story, I think wins period.

Most deffo has to be Afghanistan...
Truly shocking!!
But agree with Aebous...Vegas is pretty lame too..when i was there it rained for one day....soo many accidents..as if people didnt realise they had to change driving style when its a bit wet..

My vote goes to Cairo.

Crappy 70s cars, speed limits are an rule everyone must brake, lane markings are a rough guidelines taxi drivers must not follow. If you look like crushing, just beep th horn and trust your luck they'll move away. People will generally ignore cars as well and cross the road when ever they fancy, where ever they fancy.

Having said that, I didn't see a single accident :o

it has to be Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. Seen nothing like it. people flash lights to get other people out of the way permanently ! Second has to be bangkok thailand...

I haven't seen anything as bad as RichardG was saying, however I was reminded of this.

I was amazed at some of the things i've seen in Italy. And Dubai. And yeah Vegas is pretty bad too!

In the US my vote goes to Miami, FL. I have driven in most of Europe and portugal gets my vote for the worse place to drive in that part of the world. I have never been in Italy but I have been told that is a pretty intense place as well.

I'm going there in December :|

Paris is pretty dodgy, all cars there have dents in!! Italy is also scary, I'll NEVER go to Italy on a motorbike again, nutters , the lot of 'em, and that's just the grannies!!!! :D :D

Kuwait city...its like the wild west...every morning there is at least one serious car wreck on the roads, its as if they leave them there to warn you. Mind you, once you are used to driving with the required level of aggression its great fun.

I see Vegas popping up a lot......has anyone considered that the entire populous is on vacation/not from there/drunk/at conventions/hotel hopping/etc ?? 8)

Also.....it actually RAINED there ???? Never heard of that, lol. :?

The United Arab Emirates, especially Dubai! It's a bloody nightmare with undertaking, no indicating, lane swapping etc etc. Many vehicles including lorries are only fit for the scarp heap. A recent check of lorries revealed overlosading was a common problem - some were found to be 40 tonnes overloaded YES 40 TONNES....!Highest road accident fatality rate in the world. :!:

Was going to offer up Marrakech but actually, I think Budleigh Salterton. Quite shocking. I think the general view is that if you've lived as long as the general populous and amassed a small fortune you're granted certain privileges on Her Majesties highways not afforded to the rest of us!

Yeah apparently they did a study and found out 3 out of 4 drivers in Vegas are high off drugs, drunk, or have been awake for like 14+ hours. Plus a lot are tourists :P Oh and redlights in Vegas mean stop if you want to get hit in the rear.
It rains about once every month and a half, usually it's a light drizzle that's enough to get the sand on the road super slick like snow/ice. As someone else said up top, very few people adjust their driving style in the rain either to account for the slickness. The accident report on the radio lasts several minutes.

Even still I think I have seen worse driving in the big cities here overseas!

I bet the Venice canals are a terror in the rain :o

Not being racist but anyplace where they believe in Alah. Why! Well because if they are going to crash then so be it, it is Alah`s wish. If they take you out then again it is his wish!!!!! That is what I`ve been told by many a Muslim when you question them on their mental driving, and with the Arab places I`ve been to in the military, they are by far the worst.
