Hi Stu, it’s difficult to tell as the big end is no longer there!
The piston wasn’t really very sooted up, they’re Teflon coated & look dark even when brand new

Definitely threw a rod, i walked the road later on but couldn’t find the rest of the rod - it probably went through someone’s windscreen
No top end seizure, all pistons were free in their cylinders.

I’ve got the main components sorted out, waiting for a couple more bits & i can reassemble the engine

Is that all eBay (or the like), or are there sellers of used engine parts?
Presuming the parts are not cheap, as they must be rare now? Obviously one less 500 block in the world! Sorry bad taste!
