Where's My Dipstick?

Here's some info copied for you sharpy (from the manual) but it hasn't copied the photos of the read outs - still, it gives you the general info:

Checking the oil level
Your car is equipped with an electronic oil-level
monitor.
For a precise measurement and display of the
oil level, it is necessary that the engine be at
operating temperature, i.e. after uninterrupted
driving for at least approx. 6.5 miles/10 km. You
can have the oil level displayed while you are
driving, or while the vehicle is at a standstill on a
level surface and the engine is running.
You can have the oil level reading displayed in
the instrument cluster.
Press button 1. The oil level is checked and displayed
for approx. 15 seconds.
To exit the display sooner, press button 1 again.
Possible displays
1 Oil level OK
2 Oil level is being checked.
This can take about 3 minutes if the car is at
a standstill on a level surface, or about
5 minutes while the car is on the move.
3 Oil level down to minimum:
Add 1 US quart/1 liter of engine oil as soon
as possible, refer also to Adding engine oil.
4 Oil level is too high.
Have the vehicle checked immediately,
as excessive oil can damage the
engine.<
5 The oil level sensor is defective:
it is not possible to issue a current or accurate
measurement.
Do not add engine oil. You can continue
your journey. Have the system

Yes thanks

Intrigued by the 6.5 mile mark. :? Surely this varies with temperature and driving conditions. Guess it's just a mark in the sand.

You worry about a dipstick, I have never even seen my engine (nor is it possible)

All electronic for me as well.

The other way to work out how to trigger the oil level check is to fumble around blindly, trying to either reset the trip mileage or change the clock time for daylight saving, while someone behind you in the forecourt gets impatient and starts giving you the horn.

Exactly. You can see now why the oil check process always slips my mind.

Look at that heel on the paintwork, though.

Been there done that - first thing I tried to do when I got my first 2.0 facelift Zed was check the oil level and colour; I too thought Id lost the plot, I was straight on the forum searching and asking

LoL at thread post.
I also was wondering wtf? Dipstick wheres it at need to see the color of oil.
Online, no dip stick press this button. [------]OK
Screw this. Oil changed, filter changed. Oil was not a nice color on change, reset Oil change, and happy as I know where my oil color is and have changed 3 times.
1st time aout 300 miles in after I got it cause I couldnt find that pesky dipstick. 2nd time was 3k miles after. 3rd time was 4 k miles in. Thanks for reminding me im due again.
