Where would you/did you go from an M?

The z4 Interior was meant to be clutter less and almost plain really ....

it looks like an old school roadster interior just like it did back in 07. the materials are abit iffy but it doesn't looked dated at all imo and the ergonomics are excellent. My macan interior is a much more luxury place to be but definitely isn't as evocative and it manages to feel almost mundane.

take the current TT for example and you'll see a very similar approach, totally clutterless and very plain looking... dint get me wrong the materials and build are bang up to date but the principles are the same for a true "sports car".

See I found the Zed more dated than my 2002 S3... but I think "dated" in my mind is "being used to RS6, RS4, R8 in the family and AHHH SOMETHING DIFFERENT BURNT IT"...

I have always thought the interior in the E85/E86 was laughably dated but I do think that was deliberate and part of the charm of the car...or maybe dated is a kind word for poor quality!!

Agree. The interior is functional / does its job without any bells and whistles but some people are happy with that in a sports car.

Yes and you are spot on and I was pretty harsh on the interior of my Z4M and my mrs said to me that they are meant to be like that so I appreciate its my poor judgement to be fair and it was just the fact that I had come out of my Cerbera that had leather everywhere and had quite a fancy interior so I found the zed a little low rent in comparison.

Just to raise this thread again... loving my ///M but as a bigger house looms, I'm tempted to look at an SLK55AMG... has anyone first hand experience of these? I know the noise is brilliant, unsure about the 7G gearbox as would have to try it out...

Not driven one but a friend of mine swapped his TVR Cerbera for one and he is very happy with it, I really like the way it looks and as you say the noise is just awesome 8)

So what about a 370z? I've circled around a Nismo version recently and think they look and go very well. Not as light as the M and believe they need help gaining the sounds from the engine that should have come from factory...?

I test drove a 350Z years ago and really liked it but as you say they aren't that light, I heard a 370Z the other day and from a distance as I couldn't see it at first I thought it was a supercharged Jag or something because it sounded so good 8)

Its made me really want one and it proved to me that with the right exhaust the 370Z can sound mighty fruity and I am a big fan of them as it is.

A very good question this.
I really don't know. There are no current cars to match! Maybe the AMG GT.
The only Porc I would own is the 959..
But I'd probably hunt down a well built Fiat Coupe 20VT 4wd and offer silly money.

had 3 z4m's and a z3M roadster with the s54 engine in the past .. all good cars but ended up selling them all.

i kick myself everyday for just just stretching the budget and buying the gt4 i wanted... ( i couldnt get on the list anyway) had id be able to get one i would have broken the bank to have the car i wanted.... something i will live to regret, but sadly it was just bad timing, business still up and down like a yoyo. :-(

the lotus exige sport 350 seems much more the right price range if it was a current move, so it think thats where id go, something i have really considered but again due to the parts list, performance , condition, miles of my z4, it doesnt seem like a step UP, i guess ultimately for that really step up in every department id like something like the new MCL 570s. In purple.

Had a drive in a gt4 last week, pretty impressive and of course against the grain, only with a manual box despite the doom and gloom auto box predictors :evil:

Did not seem that expensive though? The one in the showroom was £60k.

I'm have actually fallen in love with this... but again 70k for this seems crazy!! in a years time it'll be 55k!

I was sorely tempted by an R8 spyder
But the v10 as gallardo engine
But the stupid costs of the bits!!
Brakes just front can be £1800 plus for pads

Predictable but I think Boxster Spyder or Cayman R / GT4 would be what I would swap the M for.

Nothing else takes my fancy at the moment.
