Where would you/did you go from an M?

I bought a Griffith 500 years ago , it was a toss up between that and a porsche , it was used but still an almost 20k car , when I picked it up the sales lady told me not to trust the petrol gauge and expect it to leak in a little
I'd had a couple of tvrs before thankfully , but honestly , they are a kit car , and I'm one of their biggest fans .
I also know a couple of people who have done LS conversions to make them more reliable , and probably more of a kit car

If memory serves the issue with engine swaps into TVRs are the dimensions of the engine bay - it is incredibly tight. The Rover V8 was very compact and I think TVR based a lot of their chassis on fitting one of those in.

I believe the Chevy small blocks are all cam-in-block units hence they fit, and are easily available/reliable/etc...

I saw one guy put an old Merc V8 in, but most won't fit. I don't know whether the S54 would fit in the engine bay, TVR's own Speed Six is canted over 20 degrees (presumably to fit)

Going to look at it this sat, will probs end up buying it depending on trade in. Would have the 997 off him in a heartbeat if i could afford it its imaculate. If you thought mine was immaculate should see this thing almost brand new hell of a car.

The 997.2 is heading the same way many 991s are around 60k now the 997.2 GTS is nothing but skyward or staying where it is.

Any update ? :) i think for the GTS/GT4S i would see what impact the launch of Boxter GTS and 991GTS has on the price and image - a very good car but other GTS models now available and its becoming a mainstay model. I note there are a lot more 997 GTS on the market at the moment than 4-5 months ago.

I believe I'm paraphrasing saint Clarkson here, but isn't the point with a Bentley not to say "oh but a 911 GT3 is quicker, etc etc...." but the Bentley is a massively luxurious motor and it is simply incredible that it gets close to M3 levels of performance, AT ALL. Iron fist velvet glove etc

The coolest thing i saw this year was at a Harwoods Track day at Goodwood that i happened upon when visiting some friends, Bentley had a few cars with a bentley demo driver - who roundly thrashed a private driver in a 996 GT3 RS - the difference being skill and the other being one wasnt paying for the tyres and breaks.

the sight of a purple ( i know) Big Bentley coming through the chicane at goodwood was very cool :driving:

I sold an older classic ferrari to come into the Z4MR as a relatively cheap, fast, reliable fun toy car that would keep up with Westfields and TVR's etc on the road and track and get me back to 2 seats open topped motoring. It did exactly that, but never felt engaging and alive, but always totally solid and competent. It also lacked any kind of road presence or drama as a toy car so was sold on quite quickly. Don't regret it and certainly will not knock it, but never loved it.

I brought a very "marmite" car as it's replacement that gives all that the Z4MR did but adds a heap more drama and presence. All alloy chassis, double wishbones all round, inboard dampers, hard mounted drive train, magnesium wheels, all race car stuff (as they were made following the GT3 programme) Not for everyone, but 100% for me.

Drove an i8 the other day as well, really really liked it.

That look great, and a rare sight. I'm sure it must be fantastic to drive also.

I'd love to try one of these one day, perhaps the ultimate application for the S54?!

Holy hell. I had forgotten about the Wisemann. one of the pretier machines I've ever come across..

took what a GREAT shout, the wiesmann super rare mega different and rock solid residuals!! such an awesome choice that is often forgotten, I've NEVER seen one.

I've seen one, once, that's living in London where fezzas are two a penny. Beautiful thing. The coupe they do with the e9x m3 engine frankly makes me want to rob a bank

E89 35is (twice) , Have a also looked at AM v8 vantage but the one I test drove was 4 going on 5 years old and the tech seemed much older and whilst it made a nice noise didnt feel any quicker really , my mind is starting to say porsche boxster need to drive one I guess

AMV12V,991 GT3, R8 V10

All are 3-4x the price or more, hence why we all love the M's so much. Don't get me wrong .. as soon as i have the cash i'll be jumping into one of those.. :D

Took a while to find this thread again for some reason, but better than starting a new one.

So. The roadster I've had for 9 months is superb. It's a weekend car, always have the roof down when I'm on my own in it (and the OH has even come around to it on everything but rainy days - rainy days with the roof down are amazing hangover cures!). It sounds immense with the GruppeM and standard to be fair. Few tweaks to bring it up to scratch (decent clean, wheel refurb, new rear brakes) and I'm happy as can be. Or so I thought.

I've recently started to wonder about "easier power". My old S3 required no thought when thumping the loud pedal. I like the idea of that again, but with the soft top, noise, power etc. So, RS-TT?! Anyone had/have one, I have a few bookings this Saturday to drive some locally and get a feel for what options I want etc.

I nearly pulled the trigger on a Sepang Blue RS not so long back. Got some pictures of it somewhere - the Audi dealer brought it round to my house a couple of times to try sweeten the deal

I test drove it a few times and in the end we were a couple of grand apart in what I wanted to spend and what Audi wanted.

Lovely interior. slightly dated now but far better than my E85/86. Very quick and like you say "easy power". Just mash the loud pedal and steer.

See I found the Zed more dated than my 2002 S3... but I think "dated" in my mind is "being used to RS6, RS4, R8 in the family and AHHH SOMETHING DIFFERENT BURNT IT"...

I bought Mark's Z4MR and to be brutally honest...I LOVE IT  :D
Ive always wanted a 2 seater sports car and this ticks all my boxes. Reliable and with some oomph. Thanks Mark

I have always thought the interior in the E85/E86 was laughably dated but I do think that was deliberate and part of the charm of the car...or maybe dated is a kind word for poor quality!! :P

Agree. The interior is functional / does its job without any bells and whistles but some people are happy with that in a sports car.
