Where will you go after the M...?

I think you would loose the least on an R8, can't see them going below £30k. Think I'd want to go for the GT3 personally.

OP - on your original list of 458, DBS and 997 GT3, IMO the only car there that will potentially go up in value is the 997 GT3.

Personally however I would go for the 458.

I'd go V12V.

Not for investment purposes, but because when you open the bonnet and see there isn't a single bit of spare room with that whacking great engine in, it'll make you smile from ear to ear.

I'm baffled how someone in a Z4M could consider the soulless, calculated, machine productdesign called Audi R8.

Ha, yeah it doesn't really float my boat, but must say I was impressed by the metal click clack manual gearbox in the V10 I drove a while back...very nice and something more sports cars should really have had.

Arguably the R8 rides better, handles better and in V8 form revs and sounds wonderful. Looks are subjective, the one area for me that lets it down is its size, its not ideal for back street or B roads.

What baffles me more is all the people listing cars to move on to costing c£25-100 more! :o

I'd keep the Z.
(But possibly add a
1. Ferrari 456M
2. Fiat 124 SportCoupe 1800 1975
3. Peugeot 505 TurboInjection 1988
4. Peugeot 309GTI16 1992
5. Fiat Dino 2400 Coupe 1972
6. Alfa Romeo 75 3.0V6 1992
7. Alfa Romeo GTV6 1986 )

Simples.

:)

124 sport coupe is a good call -had one of those when i was young lad -mine was 1600 though
Id love an Alfa 2.0 GTV or a Lancia Fulvia -need brave pills though to buy an Italian Classic

thats the problem, the market has gotten that much more expensive and to move on from this car and better in the important areas requires that level of financial commitment, think thats why we are seeing a few owners come back now and a good few hardcore owners keeping them for 6+ years.

The depreciation on my M was £30k over the time I had it, so anyone buying new would need to spend a lot to get something else again.

I just dropped a 45k in 2005 figure into a Money of the day calculator and came out with 61.5k ..... price of the Boxter Spyder 60.5k. if you can get one.

Somehow i just dont see Boxter Spyders being 15-20k in 10 years time --- I hope so but I doubt it.

I agree, they may keep climbing in the current climate then pullback a touch but they will always command a premium over a regular boxster and even a 911.

Intentionally reviving this thread!

1 year down the line (another year i keep the Zed.. says a lot eh!), 1 more year of cars that might qualify to add to the mix. I now see the defacto 'upgrades' (as in, given the choice, what is the ultimate M replacement) as:

The next step up:
997 C2S
V8 Vantage S
F-Type S

The ~£100k dreamland options:
Cayman GT4 (+cash for some sharkwerks'ing)
AMG GT S
991 GT3
997 GT3
Jaguar F-Type R
Audi R8 V10+
V12 Vantage (S)

Thoughts? I've still got the V12 Vantage pegged as my dream car.

Nice choices
I thought about an M4
Or an R8 spyder

But every single time I look and drive mine
It's a no from me to selling it
They're just so pretty and additive to drive when done what I've done to mine

Corvette C6 for me, but I'm happy with the M and have no reason to change other than that V8.

TBH I am also waiting for the crash but I cant see it happening. These used classics are just going to go up and up. Especially with the new tax rules. I can only see more inflation on manual NAs.

I'm hoping to be meeting with Saint Peter on the day I part company with the ///M. Just as likely to be the other guy though! :P

Any manual non turbo Ferrari. My mate has a 360 spyder manual which is rocketing in value. The non turbo manuals are very much sought after by the Ferrari purists and are becoming rarer.

I've already 'gone' but never forget these Z4Ms are still awesome machines: rare, reliable, properly fast and damn good looking! 8)
