Where to sell

Sorry if this is a dumb question - female Z4 owner and never sold a sports car before. I've owned my beloved 2006 2.5 si Phoenix Yellow Z4 roadster since Sept 2008. If it could stay young forever then I would keep it forever, but unforunately I put too many miles on the car each year driving to work and back (62,000 now), so I need to trade her in for a younger model with low mileage. Where is the best place to sell it? If I exchange her for a 2 yr old model at a BMW used car dealership, am I really going to get hammered on price? If I advertise her on the internet, where is the best place to sell and do these cars take ages to shift?

Firstly welcome to the Forum.

Several questions here. The Forum provides a good opportunity to sell and to purchase so worth a thought. Trading in at a BMW dealer will not get you the best price for your Zed but you will have the confidence of a warranty with your new purchase and with some bargaining you may get near to the 'difference' you want to spend on a newer model and irrespective of your sale price and the newer model price it is the difference which will dictate the sale - ie what money will you part with to achieve a new purchase. I would try the dealer route first just to see what's on offer.

As for a private sale, many on here use Pistonheads (link below). The price you are seeking may well dictate how quickly your car will shift too high a price and it will just put people off - too low and they get suspicous so be realistic. There's a link in my signature which may assist when looking at a newer model - just a check list to run through to ensure you get what you pay for. Good luck.
