Where To Buy Parts?

New Zed owner here! Pictures to follow as I haven't got it home yet . I'm also a first time BMW owner so it's all new to me. Although I hope I won't have too much necessity to shop, inevitably there will be things that need replacing on my 2003 e85.

Other than the obvious auction site, where do you guys generally get your parts from?

Also, is there a list of part numbers somewhere for consumables such as oil filters, air filters, brake pads, etc?

Euro car parts for general stuff. Give Markplant a shout on here, I think he knows a place in Sheffield that does good quality OEM rated springs rather than lowered.

Hope you enjoy the forum.

Welcome aboard.

As stated Euro Car Parts can meet most servicing needs. There is always a 30% discount code knocking about somehwere.
https://www.bestpartstore.co.uk/ also very good for more obscure bits and bobs.
Motormec also not bad for some things

Do most of you use aftermarket oil filters and air filters, or genuine BMW? If the latter, where do you get these as ECP doesn't seem to stock them.

I often use http://onlinecarparts.co.uk for parts, they are based in Germany so delivery is around a week. Delivery is free over £140

I tend to use genuine filters from bmw as they aren't that expensive & ive heard some proper horror stories about pattern filters breaking up! :o

Do you get these from a main dealer or is there somewhere online to pick these up (the online store suggestions so far all only stock aftermarket)?

BMW dealers are often worth trying. Sometimes the answer is Not Available. Sometimes they have it but at eye watering prices. Sometimes they have it and it is cheaper than the repro or ebay prices. And you have confidence in the quality.

The following brands have proved good for most and most are OEM producers, I have bought from eBay, ECP and OPIE Oils

Meyle
Mahle
Febi (various, sensors, thermostats)
Mann (filters)
Bosch (plugs)
Pagid (pads, discs)

Thanks for the replies all. Have just picked up some Mann filters from ECP with this month's 30% discount code :).

MANN are the filter OEM for BMW, the OE filters have MANN on them plus the BMW branding. Certainly no lesser quality and at least half the price.
