Roadside for me - it's the only option as I'm driveless & garageless! One year on and no scratches or anything nicked (hope this hasn't cursed anything). Previous car was kept roadside for 3 years, also without incident.

To the lucky 59% with garages ... raaazzzzzzz!! :nahnah:

Mine's in the driveway ... behind the Honda. 8)
Which of course means I have to move the $#%@! Honda to get the Z4 out, but it's worth it.

Technically mine is garaged, but as the Admiral premium is £200 MORE for garaged, I asked them to define car port vs garage.

A car port has three walls - so, my garage door stays open and it's a car port...

Garage.

Insurance policy states has to be more than 1.5 miles from home not to be garaged.

Oh :o So what if you are at a friend's down the road and stay over?? Do you ask them to move their car?

Down on the insurance as being driveway but its garaged..

Only because to garage it is an extra £200 on the insurance!

Whats the logic ? Paid £280 for my insurance for my 3.0i last August with Swinton ( I'm an old git living in a village on the IOW ! ) Declared originally that I kept it on the drive but got fed up cleaning it so moved it in to garage - heard such good reports about Admiral so got a quote online in advance of this years premium just to compare - declared I was keeping in a garage and it came out at £400 !

Are they worried its more likely to get damaged in a garage ? - mind you I did drop a plastic petrol can from the eaves and dented the wing - fotunately only cost me £40 from the clever dentman to get it back to pefection !

it's since cars' security systems have become more complicated, effectively garages are easy to break into (in the main) and therefore once someone's inside they can spend as long as they want trying to get things going whilst hidden from view...that's what i read somewhere anyway.

mine's mostly in the garage, sometimes if i return home late and have an early start i don't bother..

And who's got the narrowest garage? seen some pics of some crazy exotic stuff parked in normal width garages, friend of a friend had an F40 in a standard width garage, don't know how he had the balls; i sometimes have to jam the brakes on when the wing mirror's looking at risk...!

Used to have standard up and over wooden door and managed to scrape my previous P&J ( Elan ) getting it out one day ( was not best pleased ! ). Had the door replaced with a folding type door that is installed after removing the original frame - gives an extra 4" on either side - Zed goes in a treat with room to walk around it inside!

I heard that more people damage their cars moving in / out of garages than parked on drive. But could be proportional to number of people putting cars in garage.

When I moved my car into my garage the advice on here was to have it insured as on the drive, precisely because (apparently) lots of cars get damaged going in / out of the garage or by having things dropped on them.

Mines kept in our car port (with a cover on) with my misses car parked behinde it. Our car port is big so washing it or doing mods on it is no problem whatever the weather.

Generally the drive unless its been cleaned and polished for the next day, then it goes in the garage.
For me, the car is at more risk in the garage, Mr Rhodesey dropped a bike on the SK2 when it was parked in there; Mr Rhodesey opened the garage door onto the SK2 to put it into the garage, and my nutter of a boxer dog likes to climb and jump on the car if its parked in the garage....
